Chapter 13: nightmare

There was a body chained to the wall, Jesse approached it unable to identify who it was. "Jesse!" it suddenly screamed at her as it lunged forward to reveal a skeleton face.

Jesse awoke with a start, she was in her old bedroom in her father's mansion. Restless, she got out of bed and made her way down the hall where she found Miss Tabitha, her old personal maid. "Miss Tabitha Have you seen Chris and Julia?" She asked quietly. "oh your friends" Tabitha replied before a huge grin stretched across her face, "they were both a bit tipsy last time I saw them in person, they went into the spare room and when I checked on them later, they were asleep hugging each other. So cute!". Jesse gave a smile, however on the inside she didn't actually feel happy, all she wanted was to get Cal back. Suddenly the front door to the mansion opened and her father's hunter Crowly entered, he was in charge of the search for Cal. Julia rushed down the stairs to the drenched middle aged man, however she quickly noticed that he was alone, "What happened?" Jesse asked as she came to a stop infront, he answered her question by producing a revolver, Cal's Revolver. "we found it on his burnt corpse, I'm so sorry" he told her as he handed the gun over, Sadness filled Jesse's core as she felt the cold metal in her hand. Without warning, she sprinted up stairs and into her room where she locked herself in. Her body felt heavy as she slid down the door and sobbing quietly.

After several hours of crying, Jesse eventually left her room to get some breakfast. At the dining table was her father, mother, Julia and Chris all eating their meal. None of them said a word as Jesse took some food and began to eat, eventually her father spoke up "Jesse, we are so sorry to hear about what happened to your friend however we had organised a party for you and your friends, if you wish we can cancel it." Jesse stayed quiet and her parents sighed before getting up to leave, "Don't cancel it" Jesse told them as they went to leave, they nodded in acknowledgement. Jesse then finished her meal and went to leave before being grabbed by Julia "cmon sad person, lets go into town" She said before dragging her out.

Chris was left alone by the pair in the dinning hall, he left his meal and proceeded to walk around the mansion, Thats when he heard a sound. It was coming from the basement. Cautiously, he made his way to the basement door and crept down the stairs, The sound was getting louder now, taking the form of screams. When he reached the bottom of the stairs, he went left down a corridor and past a wine collection where he found a doorway to a room. Inside was Jesse's father and a man dressed in butcher's clothes, chained against the wall was a hooded man. Jesse's father strolled over to the man and removed the hood to reveal a bruised Cal, He watched as Jesse's father whispered something into Cal's ear before walking to the doorway where Chris was. Quickly, Chris hid behind some barrels and waited until Jesse's father had passed, before emerging from his hiding spot. Suddenly something hit him in the back of the head, knocking him to the floor barely awake. Jesse's father came back followed by several of the gang members who had originally kidnaped Cal, from behind came the leader who was holding a club. Chris watched weakly as Jesse's father shook hands with the man wielding the club before booting Chris in the face, knocking him out.
