It'll Devour You

Chapter 2

A few hours have gone by and Hiei was still sitting under the tree staring up at the sky looking at all the stars that glowed. Wanting to kill some time while testing an experiment, the fire demon pulls out a beer from his drawstring bag and proceeds to look at it for a while. He had stolen the drink from his father Kaigo who didn't care about what happened to him.

"Whatever. It's not like anyone is going to stop me."

Without hesitation, Hiei opens the beer can and takes a sip of the beverage. The taste to him almost reminded him of the delicious lemon and strawberry cake Yukina would nake every summer. Soon he feels the effects of the alcohol take him over and his face begins to turn pink.

"Hey. This isn't bad as I thought it would be. And they say this stuff isn't good for you. I'm a demon we can handle this stuff without ease."

Hiei chugs the beer as quickly as he could and incinerates the can instantly in his hands and let the ash get blown away. The fire demons face turns into a darker pink as he feels relaxed and calm.

"So this is how humans relax after a stressful week." Hiei says as he slurs his speech slightly.

Soon his head begins to pound with memories from his childhood. He holds his head in fear as the thoughts of his father hurting his step-mother flew back into his mind.

Six year old Hiei was sitting at the foot of the stairs hearing at his father Kaigo and his step-mother yelling at each other covering his ears to block out the noise.

"It's our responsibility to make sure Hiei gets to school and home safe at all times! You can't just let him go wondering around late at night!" his step mother yells.

"I don't care what happens to the litte brat! The minute I turned 17 years old my ex girlfriend had him and his sister, and that boy ruined my life cause I stuck raising him on my own!" Kaigo yells at his girlfriend.

"How can you say that about your own child?! I love him better than you do and he deserves all the attention and love from both of us!"

Hiei soons hears glass shattering and the screams from his step-mother. The child then gets up from the steps to find his mother uncouncious and his father holding his belt in his hands.

"No Mommy!" the tiny fire demon screams from the stairs.

He soon springs into action and jumps on top of his step-mother and shields her from Kaigo.

"Daddy! Please don't hurt Mommy! She hasn't done anything wrong to hurt you!" Hiei desperately cries out to his Father.

"Shut up!" Kaigo yells at his son as he grabs the front of his shirt.

Kaigo violently throws his Hiei against the wall back first which results in his forehead bleeding.

"You stay out of this you little brat! You have no say to what happens in this house! You're nothing but a little pain the ass in my life!!" Kaigo angrily yells to the six year old fire demon.

Hiei's little ruby eyes widen in shock as pearl tears started to stream down on to the floor after hearing what his father has just told him.

Back in the present day, Hiei was crying at the painful event that had occurred. He wanted so badly to not exist on earth and the demon world anyone, but he knew he couldn't because he didn't want anyone to grieve over him.

Hiei soon hears his phone buzzing in his pocket and checks to see who it was. It was his sister Yukina.

"Hey Yukina what's up?" Hiei says as he fake smiles.

"Nothing much really. I've just finished baking 2 lemon meringue pies and we plan to have a picnic tomorrow. Wanna come?" she asks happily over the phone.

Knowing he didn't want to make his sister sad, the fire demon realizes he has to be there for his sister no matter the situation. So his face lightens up and he softly replies to her,

"Sure. I'll be there Yukina."

"Great! I'll let everyone know that you're coming! I'll send over the information through text. See you tomorrow!" Yukina happily smiles.

"See ya! Bye!"

After he hangs up, Hiei lays his back on the tree again and looks at the wounds on his arms. His eyes wide in horror after he realizes what he has done.

"What the hell did I do? WHAT THE HELL DID I DO?!"
