Summer Break

Chapter 3

Hiccup's POV

"This sure is boring.." I mumbled to myself as I grab the last piece of popcorn from the bowl I held with me. I glanced at Toothless who's sitting beside me on the couch, entertaining himself by chewing a rubber ball.

I gave him a pat and he licked my hands. "Toothless.. You know that doesn't wash out.." I chuckled.

It's been a week since we had our summer break. And I tell you, this is really boring. My parents were out like I said and they said they'll be back by tomorrow. Which was Saturday.

I sighed when I felt my phone vibrated inside my pocket. Toothless pick up his ears as I pull out my phone. I read my notifications and found a message from Astrid.

I started to read as it says:

"Hey..

Sorry I haven't been calling in awhile. I've been busy lately. But.. If you don't have plans for today, meet me at my house later and let's have a movie night. ^^ Don't forget to bring some snacks with you! Or else!! Nah just joking.. Oh and pets are STRICTLY allowed. :p

"Heh.." I smirked. This day might never end.. "C'mon bud, let's go pack up.." I stood up and went to my room, packing up my stuffs and put them inside my bag.

Toothless followed me. He tilted his head when he reach my room. I look at him and smiled. "We're having a movie night.."

Astrid's POV

I invited him to come over tonight.. You know.. I've been having a quite hard week. So, let's just say it was planned to bury my sadness.

I went to the couch, looking at the clock. I sighed. I lay down and start to sleep when Stormfly lick my face in a sudden.

"Haha.. Hey girl.. You sleepy? Come here.." I held her paws and she nudge me. She went up on the couch and lay down beside me.

The night came faster than I expected. I heard the doorbell rang when my dog barked. Stormfly jump and land on top of my face. "Gahh!!" I rolled to the other side and we fell off to the floor.

"Astrid? You okay?"

Goddammit. It was Hiccup. I glanced at the clock, realizing it was 6.30 in the evening. I rushed to the kitchen to find my keys.

"Arghh where are they?!" I groaned. Cause really.. I found nothing but dog food in the kitchen table. I went back to the living room and saw Hiccup standing beside the tv.

"H-How did you.. Get in?" I crossed my arms, pointing at the door.

"Eh.. It wasn't really locked. You okay?" He said.

I nodded. "Yeah.." I glance at the dogs (Since he brought Toothless with him) who were playing around.

"Okay.. I brought you your favorite.." He opened his bag and sit on the couch. She sat beside me.

Hiccup's POV

I pulled out a box of pizza and gave it to her. Duh. Pizza is love. It's like the whole class at school loves pizza. Including me.

"Aww thanks you.." She smiled as she opened it.

I smiled. "So, what have you been doing these days?" I asked. She went to the kitchen and grab a drink then came back a minute after.

"I don't wanna talk about it.." She said as she took a slice of pizza and eat it.

"Tell me.."

She shook her head, taking the tv remote and start to pick a channel.

"Tell me.." I begged.

She shook her head. Again. Biting the last piece of pizza she held. Ugh. She's just so.. Hard. I can't tell.

"Astrid.."

"Ugh! Why can't I find a good thing to watch?!?" She groaned, changing the topic.

"Astrid!"

"What?!!?" She looked at me then back at the tv.

"Oh give me that!" I grab the remote from her hand. Turn the tv off and throw it (The remote. That's what I mean) across the room. Luckily it didn't broke. Well, it landed near Toothless though..

"Tell me what's going on.." I held her arms as she started to sob. "No, no, no.. Don't cry.. It's okay.. I'm sorry.." I pull her into a hug and she hugged me back.

Astrid's POV

I rested my head on his chest.

"It's not about the remote.." I said. Tears kept falling from my eyes as I start to have flashbacks about this tragedy I felt these days.

"Then what is it?" He asked me.

I pull off and rub my eyes. "Remember the time I told you that my parents were out for bussiness?" He nodded.

"There was an accident and he was hospitalized.." I cried.

"Whoa.. Wait.. What do you mean by 'he'?" He raised an eyebrow.

"My dad.. Well, not exactly my dad.. He's my uncle.. The last family member I had." I wipe my tears but it kept falling over my cheeks.

"I.. Don't understand.." He said.

Gods. I forgot. I haven't really told him about my family members. All he knew was me calling them as 'my parents'.

"A long time ago.. Well, my real dad died when I was 5. And.. I lost my mom when she gave birth to me.. So, I lived with my uncle.. The thing is, he was actually the last family member I had now.. He's been a good step dad for me.. And now.. He's hospitalized. He got a coma since last Monday. The time I got called by the hospital.." I tried to explain. But seriously.. I can't stop my tears.

"I'm so sorry to hear that.. I mean I know how it was to lost someone you love but.. I don't know.. I'm so sorry.." He run his fingers to the back of his hair.

"It's okay.. It's not your fault.. But he has to be okay.. He has to.. He's the only one I have as a family member.."

"I'm sure he'll be fine.. My parents will be back by tomorrow.. I'll ask if they could help. Have you seen him? I mean your uncle.."

"No.. That's why.. I haven't got a ride to go there.. It's too far.. It'll took half an hour.." I look at him. He was really caring. Such a sweet guy..

"Well, let's see if my parents will help.. Everything's gonna be fine.. Trust me.." He pull me closer to him.

I hugged him back. "What if it's not?" I sobbed.

"It will.. I'm sure it will.." He said.
