A few days after Thomas's and I's activities, I was called into a meeting with my uncle. I walked into the living room and sat down on one of the black leather couches, crossing my legs. Uncle took a seat beside me, a smile on his worn down face.

"Nyx, I have a job for you. Nothing big. I just need you to get some things from the store."

I nodded, holding out my hand as he placed the rather long list in my palm.

"Sure. I'll be back in a few hours."

I stood up, missing the sad look in his eyes as I went to my room to change and grab my things.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and slipped on my shoes before heading out. The sun kissed my skin warmly, a small smile falling onto my face as I walked to the nearby mall.

An hour later, I had all the things on the list placed neatly in bags beside me as I quietly ate my lunch at one of the many tables within the building.

'The stuff on the list wasn't even that hard to get. I wonder why uncle sent me this time instead of one of his lackies'

I leaned my cheek into my palm, putting another mouthful of (Food) into my mouth. I chewed slowly, the tv to my left catching my attention.

"Breaking news. Local casino caught on fire. Live on the scene is Steven West. Go ahead Steven."

"Yes, thank you Patty. I'm here at the popular Kujaku Casino as a team of firefighters, police, and paramedics are still arriving on scene. More details to come."

I slammed my hands down onto the table, my eyes glued to the screen and focused on the all too familiar building behind the man. I didn't care about the bewildered looks I got as I picked up my bag and ran out, only two people on my mind as I sprinted back to my home. I could see the black smoke in the distance, only forcing me to run faster. I ducked under the police tape and dodged the hands of the reaching officers.

"UNCLE!"

Before I could run into the flames, strong hands wrapped around my waist, easily lifting off the ground. I struggled against them, flailing my arms and legs in a useless attempt to reach my beloved uncle and friend.

"Please calm down, you're going to get yourself killed if you run in there."

I ground my teeth together, whipping my head around to glare at the culprit holding me back.

It was a man with long dark hair and bags under his eyes. He wore a pair of yellow goggles on his forehead and adorned all black clothing and a large scarf around his neck.

"I DONT FUCKING CARE. NOW LET ME G O!"

I pushed my way out of his grasp, unknowingly knocking him a few feet away in the process as I ran head first into the burning building. There was fire everywhere, dark smoke quickly filling my lungs. I stumbled up the barely intact stairs to uncle's room, kicking the door down and entering.

Burning flesh

There he was, Uncle was there. But he was not alive.

I fell to my knees, my body shaking as I crawled over to him. The fire licked at my skin, but I could hardly feel it.

"Uncle..? Uncle please wake up!"

Tears ran down my soot covered cheeks as I turned his body over. There, I saw it.

There was a knife in his chest.

I couldn't remember anything after that, the only thing that was registering in my mind was my own agonized screaming as I cradled his body tightly to mine.

The next thing I knew, I was being pulled away and to a window. A comforting warmth wrapped around me, steadying my fast beating heart in only a few seconds.

I only managed to get out a few words out of my dry lips before I fell out of consciousness. The large buff man holding me shook his head, jumping out of the window.

"Please don't leave me..."
