-Ten years earlier-

"Are you sure you want to play with us?" A boy with beautiful golden hair asked. A group of boys no older than ten were all seating at the little park bench inside Monsieur Duval's wizard lair. They all had a wooden sword in hand, practicing swordplay. Next to them was a seven year old girl with dark purple hair and midnight blue eyes, Her skin so pale it made the boys think of a neptunian vampire. she was also holding a wooden sword in hand and wearing a warrior's attire. The boys had never seen a girl in the lair before, certainly because Monsieur Duval never accepted girls in there. The last boy that brought his sister with him never came back again since Monsieur Duval turned his little sister into a slimy old frog for three straight hours. Although he was one of the nicest warlocks in Leniopia, Monsieur Duval was very intriguing  , He had slick red hair and his eyes were as green as a cat. He loved to teach young men who wanted to become warriors in the future, He was known to be good friends with the royal family, so everyone wanted to enroll their young men to his warrior's lair for inexpensive training. For peasants with sons, the training was free. The little girl did not even look scared after asking a group of older boys if she could play with them, she seemed bold but scared at the same time. Most girls, no matter how young or old would never even think of stepping foot into a training facility known for men only.

"Yes I'm quite sure that I want to play with you boys, it's not illegal for a girl to learn swordplay is it now?" the seven year old girl said as she twirled her hair around her tiny little fingers. Before the golden haired boy had a chance to say anything else Monsieur Duval came out of his office wearing a warlock's attire with a long black brocade jacket. He always had a certain look on his face that meant he was serious about what he was there to do. All the young men he had ever taught had looked to Monsieur Duval, and all had thanked him with great wealth for helping them achieve their greatest and wildest dreams.

"Uncle Duval!" The little girl yelled as she jumped into the arms of her uncle. The boys stood there shocked not because the girl was Monsieur Duval's niece, but because of how at ease Monsieur Duval looked at the moment. Monsieur Duval always looked so austere but calm. Most of the time it was always a simulated smile to get people off his chest.

"Hello Rena, may I ask what you are doing here. I am sure your mother wouldn't like to see her seven year old daughter in a room full of young boys, and as beautiful as you are, I'm sure they've tried flirting haven't they?" The little girl started laughing hysterically as her uncle spun her around.

"Well mother does not need to know about this does she?" She replied with a mischievous smile playing on her lips. Monsieur Duval just chuckled at her stubbornness. She was exactly like her mother and exactly like her father at the same time. She had her father's eyes, but her mother's hair. She had her mother's stubbornness while she had her father's determination and Duval knew whatever she was here for she wouldn't leave without getting what she wanted. That is one of the many things he loved about his little Serena, she was always determined to get what she wanted no matter how hard it was, but that only happened on special occasions most of the time she would just quit before it even started.

"Alright Rena you should probably leave, isn't it almost supper, surely your mother shan't be pleased if you're late" He replied, his voice full of amusement.

"Speaking of my birthday, since i turned seven today I would like to learn how to use a sword and to become a warrior like daddy" At that Monsieur Duval's face paled. He loved Serena very much but for her to want to become a warrior is something very dangerous. Since she was a girl it would give her a disadvantage since no men in Leniopia respected women, his sister was very lucky to actually find a man that loved her and respected her. He did not want his niece to be laughed at because of her dreams, she was only seven, she knew absolutely nothing about life in the magic world. So he decided that he would train her. It is not like she will stick to it, knowing his Rena she would probably quit after the first day, and he wouldn't have to worry about men trying to kill her for wanting to learn how to fight. He also did not want his sister threatening him, for he taught her daughter how to use a sword. Clarissa was the best witch he knew and he did not want to be turned into something very uncomfortable like a baby dragon or an ogre. He shuddered at that thought but kept a smile on his face.

"Alright Rena, we will start training tomorrow before dawn, and as you know I will not be your uncle during then, I will be your teacher and your teacher only, do not be late or your training would not continue." He smiled as he saw Serena hug him as hard as she could. She was truly a beautiful girl, and he was sure that when Serena grew up she would be one of the most beautiful girls in the magics.

"Thank you, thank you Uncle!" She shrieked as Monsieur Duval put her little feet back on the ground. "Now go home and come back tomorrow and have a happy birthday" Monsieur Duval said, smiling, as her little feet ran out of his lair. He did not realize that because of this day, his niece's life would change forever........
