Serena
present day
"Uncle Duval do we really have to keep practicing? It's almost midnight" I asked him as we practiced with our swords. We had been practicing since noon and now we had, I guess about an hour till midnight. I wanted to go home, I was tired, worn out after a long day of practicing. Uncle Duval has been my sword teacher for almost ten years now, tomorrow or should I say in an hour would make it ten years and I will finally be seventeen. This would be the day that I will finally be able to go to real wars and not just battle tests against wizards, cyclops, and other weird creatures that I did not even know existed. Once I turned seventeen I would be able to go to real battles with my own kinds, though I knew I was going to be the only girl in the warriors' household I knew I had to try my best to make these men respect me. Uncle Duval and my siblings were the only family I had left now, and I needed to find a way to make fast coins, so they could be fed and sheltered.
"Rena, please be a little more patient, and no I don't think we have to keep practicing, I do think you are absolutely ready to take the durst of being one of the best warriors in Leniopia." I could hear the sadness in his voice as he never wanted this faith for me, even when we started training he told me he didn't want me to become a warrior, but since I was as stubborn as I was, I told him directly that I did not want to be a mistress, a housewife, or a witch for that matter since I only used my powers for special moments, I did not want to bed men for living and I did not want to stay home and take care of my children while there was a whole world out there that needed exploring.
"Uncle Duval I know this must be hard, but I want to follow my father's footsteps. He died doing something he loved....and so will I" He gave me another small smile but I could tell that the Idea of me dying was not something he or any of my siblings would enjoy, but it was my dream to do this, and I knew every men in town respected me. None of them liked me, I knew that much, but they were all civilized and I wanted the same for all women in the magics. Humans were selfish and rude, but they respected women and I wanted the same to happen in all the magical states. From what I have heard witches were the only women that men respected because of their powers, and most of them only cared about vengeance, most of the witches were feared but never loved.
"Alright enough with this sadness, I've been alive for three-hundred years and I am finally starting to feel old, Let's go home." He said grimacing. I knew my uncle was old but he never had a proper girlfriend or boyfriend . I loved my uncle to death but the idea of being three hundred and only bed women and men when you feel as of you should is not a good idea, by this age he should've been married with a woman or man that he loved but he always told us that my siblings and I came first in his life. Sometimes I felt really guilty to be the one that made him the way he was. I nodded my head as we both got up taking our swords putting it in our scabbards. We walked for about fifteen minutes before we arrived home. We talked about my two twin sisters and how much of a mess they made last week trying to use their powers to make a chocolate cake. Our whole house was covered with chocolate for three days straight. Even though it would've taken Uncle Duval only a second to vanish everything, he made my sisters clean everything by hand. It was truly an entertaining sight.
We were almost home when we saw dimmed lights inside our home. I could tell it was a witch's light because of the green colored reflections. My heart started pounding since I knew my sisters nor my brothers had been learning such a spell yet. I looked over at Uncle Duval and saw the worried look on his face. He gave me a swift nod before we both took off running. We ran as fast as we could since it seemed the only power people in Leniopia did not have was super speed, unless you were a faerie. We arrived in under a minute and I quickly slammed the door open with my foot, drawing my sword out as fast as I could. I was scared, but not for myself, I was scared that I was going to find my siblings on the floor dead just as I found my mother three years ago. But what I wasn't expecting to see was two guards and the king and queen of Leniopia standing in our living room, while my sisters were on the couch smiling and drinking something I guessed was hot tea. Relief washed over me as I saw the two of them sitting there and my brothers sleeping on the couch. But then I suddenly felt confused as what the king and queen of my country were doing in my home, standing in front of me.
"Your majesties may I kindly ask what you are doing in my home?" Uncle Duval spoke as he curtsied in front of his 'old friends'. The queen looked as beautiful as everyone had talked about, and the king as handsome as all the women in Leniopia made sure to mention everyday.
"Hello Monsieur Duval, It's been a while my old friend, but I need your help with something incredibly important, It's quite dangerous but you are the only one right now that I can trust." The king replied, he looked worn out as if he had been in battle for a while. The queen had the same look on her face, but she looked as if she had been crying for a while."There has been a threat going on to my son, and we need someone to protect him every single hour of the day, the next heir of this country cannot be killed or Leniopia would fall."
" Your Majesties I cannot leave my family, I -"
"We do not want you" The queen interrupted. "We want the girl." At that my heart stopped....
