Tia's POV
My body shook with my sobs, my phone lying cracked on the floor. Where is he? Why didn't he tell me when he was coming home? I thought, Please don't be him... I begged to no one in particular. I moved, putting my elbows on the table and holding my head in my hands. The tears began to fall silently, as I internally begged for that victim not to be my Shawn. I felt a familiar pair of lips kiss my head as my prayer was answered. "What's wrong?" Shawn asked, and I jumped up to wrap my tiny body around his tall, muscular frame. I felt his arms wrap around my waist, raising us both up to make it easier to hold me. I wrapped my legs around his waist, holding myself up and hugging him closer. I sobbed harder, letting out my thoughts. I began to whimper and cry out how worried I was about him, telling him I didn't know when he would be back. I told him about the accident, and all of the reasons as to why I thought it probable for the victim to have been him. Despite my yelling and sobbing and clinging, Shawn just stood there comforting me. He rubbed circles on my hips, and kissed my forehead while he let me let everything go. As I felt his body trying to become weak, Shawn sat down and held me. He knew it wasn't just the crash I was upset about. I had been letting the pain and sorrow build up for months. As Shawn sat with me in his lap, holding me, the rambling stopped first. My body wrenching sobs followed, but the tears stayed, silent as they were. Though, with time, they stopped too. I sat there, my head on his shoulder, my face red and wet from my meltdown that Shawn was so patient and caring through. He moved one hand from around my waist, and pulled out something from his pocket. He placed it in my hands, and at first I was confused, but then my eyes focused in. "A teddy bear?" I asked, confused, it hugging it close despite the fact, and then I smiled a bit. "My idea..." I start, but Shawn cuts me off with a kiss. "They loved it. Those little kids, I'd record it right in front of them. They'd have that forever." Shawn gushed, and then pulled out a recording device from his pocket. He slipped it inside the back of the bear, and I gave it a gentle squeeze. I smiled brightly as I heard Shawn's voice echo from the tiny toy. "I love you, Tia." His voice said, and I began to tear up again. "I love you, Shawn." I told him, and I hugged him again. Shawn pulled me in for a kiss, wiping my tears away. "I'm so glad, Tia. Not to ruin the moment or anything, but how about we actually eat this splendid looking dinner that you've prepared for us?" Shawn chuckled, and I laugh with him. "That sounds like a splendid idea." I tell him, and he grabs his place setting to mix with mine so that he could hold me while we ate.
~A month later~
"Are you sure you're okay with this?" Shawn asks, in a hushed tone, me again, for what seems like the millionth time. "Yes, I'm sure. This means nothing between the two of you. It's just for the song, and I know that's the case." I assure him, in the same volume, and he kisses me on the forehead quickly, so that no one around us notices. "Have a good time. I'll be watching you from the audience. Break a leg." I tell Shawn as the stage crew ushers him on to the stage. I slip my badge into my purse, though it was a real badge, it had a fake title. Shawn had given it to me to keep from getting kicked out. I made my way to the seat that Shawn had reserved for me, and I stood with everyone else as the show began.
"Thank you, everybody, for coming out tonight." Shawn gushed happily, smiling into the microphone. "So, I've got a bit of a surprise for you all. I'll be singing my new song tonight, and it was actually written by a good friend of mine. Her name is Destiny, and you all know her as my songwriter." With this, I saw the said songwriter roll out on to the stage. Shawn turns to her, and the sound guy switches his mic to the one on his face and turns mine on. The soft melody begins to play, and Shawn's angelic voice begins to echo over the sound system.
(A/N: Both, Destiny, Shawn)
"Got a call,
Almost midnight
The rain dressed in your voice (Baby, don't cry)" Shawn stalks over to her, and he looks confused- he's obviously trying to hide it- as she locks her wheels in place. I watched her push herself into a standing position, and his eyes go wide. She closes the distance between them, and they put their palms together and touch their foreheads to the other's."A thousand miles
Just a wall (It's too far to call)
Baby girl, I'm never too far
We'll always find a way home" I shudder as her voice mixes with his, and she does as well, and they turn and push their backs together to mimic a wall between them."Baby, don't cry (It's hard to sleep at night)
Take a deep breath
Take my hand
Step into the light of day" Shawn spins around, pulling her close to his chest with her back to his. She reaches back and tangles her fingers in his hair, almost like she was trying to pull him closer."Say goodbye to yesterday,
Let the past shut its door
You're/I'm just on the other side
This isn't goodbye" She spins around, and he grabs her hip with one hand, using the other to gently cup her face."You are my home
I wish you/I were home" She moves her hands to his face, pressing her forehead against his chest."Listening to the rain,
It's drowning your voice (I'm drowning)
I'm almost home (when are you coming home?)" She turns away, pulling her arms to her chest."You are my home
Just let me come home
This isn't goodbye(Tell me this won't be goodbye)
Promise" Shawn turns her around, but she steps back to keep the distance."Listening to the rain,
It's drowning your voice (I'm drowning)
I'm almost home (when are you coming home?)" Shawn steps foreword with her, placing his hand on her hip, forehead against her's."You are my home
Just let me come home
This isn't goodbye(Tell me this won't be goodbye)
Promise" They both step back, and she places her hand on his shoulder."A thousand miles
Just a wall (It's too far to call)
Baby girl, I'm never too far
We'll always find a way home" He pulls her closer, and she moves her hands to his hair."It's just a storm
I'll hold on
I'll be strong" Shawn kisses her forehead, and they hold the position until the music fades out.The crowd erupts in cheers, me included, and they pull away. I'm smiling, proud of my boyfriend, and I notice that Destiny is smiling and wide eyed, looking behind them to see that a stage hand had taken her wheelchair away. "You... You... You can walk..." Shawn stuttered, still holding her close. I didn't particularly like that, but he was in a bit of shock and out of breath, so I dismissed it. I laugh, smiling at him, and so does Destiny. "Yes, Shawn, I can walk." She tells him, and Destiny began to pull away, whether or not it was so fans didn't get the wrong idea, I wasn't sure, but I was thankful. "You can dance..." He mutters as well, eying her up and down. Ouch, I thought. I laugh again, anyways, and so does the rest of the audience, and Destiny. "I can dance. I can walk. Just don't ask me to do a c-cartwheel." She teases, stuttering a bit. I laugh again, and begin to relax. He was just in shock, plus we had a meeting tomorrow, with his manager, so things were tense. "Do you need to sit down?" Shawn asks, obviously concerned about her health. "You just got out of your casts about two weeks ago." Shawn reasons, obviously concerned with her health. Destiny laughs, taking a seat in the wheelchair that the stage hand was rolling back out. I'm so glad they get along. He needed a good friend like Destiny, someone who understood music and anxiety like he and I did. I hope we get along well.
