Not every violence is physical,
Nor every abuse leaves scars visible.
Violence of words is also violence
Which degrades one in a single sentence.
Not every violence is beating senseless.
Emotional abuse is the mute witness
Of a soul's debasement and futile hopes,
Until the victim learns to cut the ropes.
Not every violence uses the force of a fist.
Control and manipulation are hard to resist,
Until the victim questions her very existence.
Cruel mind games are also violence.
Run, run before it is too late, before
You see only darkness in the mirror.
Break free,
Before you wonder if you still can breathe,
Believe me,
In spite of all, your spirit is still alive underneath.
