"I'll explain in detail later," Jayleen bustled along, leading her further down the ship. She opened the door to a giant safe and shoved a large duffel bag into Amaya's arms. "Here is some supplies; everything else you need to live is in here. Take what you need. Try to stay silent. Justin and Cobes will let you out when it's safe."Amaya barely had time to muster a nod of approval before the feisty Jayleen had shoved her head first into the safe, and shut the door.
Amaya didn't know how long it had been since she'd been in the safe. It could have been only a matter of hours, or days. She really couldn't tell. Suddenly, she heard a commotion down the other end of the craft. She stiffened, trying to to breathe too loudly.
"She's in here isn't she?" A voice yelled furiously from the other side of the door.
"It was the only place she'd be safe!" Another voice yelled back, one she recognised to be Justin's. "We won't open the door until we know it is safe for her, that you won't murder her the second she sees our six suns, Jenevieve!"
The first voice, Jenevieve, laughed. "You think just because I'm in a different universe I don't have entire access to my own ship?"
"No!" Justin cried. A beep sounded from outside, and the door hissed, and opened, to reveal Amaya standing there, shock written all over her young, but rapidly aging face. Justin flung is arms out to hold Jenevieve back, but he was too late. Jenevieve moved smoothly towards Amaya, circling her, like a fox circles its prey. And then, she lunged.
Amaya saw it coming, and caught Jenevieve off guard by springing lightly out of the way. Amaya's hand reached into her sheath, hidden in a pocket of her cargo pants. She ripped out her weapon of choice, the Khopeah. Jenevieve revealed her own weapon of choice; a light Katana with a flexible blade. And yet again, she lunged. Only this time it was more deadly. Amaya thrust her blade out in front of her to meet Jeneveive's. Sparks flew, and Justin backed away, intimidated by the female power.
"Amaya Arisnoe." Jenevieve's eyes met Amaya's over their crossed blades. "The Alphaverse's Assassin. Everyone in the Alphaverse is singing your praises. The youngest, but yet most deadly assassin. Ever. Supposedly."
"Who are you?" Amaya's voice was hard. She was determined to show no mercy. "Because you are obviously not Jenevieve Julandus."
"Oh, my name is Jenevieve all right. That's why they sent me here." Jenevieve was smiling in a way that terrified Amaya, not that she was going to show it.
"Who are you? What's going on? Justin?" Amaya looked sideways for a split second to meet his tortured eyes.
"She's a monster Amaya! She was sent here from the Betaverse! She killed their ruler!" Justin cried desperately.
Jenevieve made a growling noise in the back of her throat. "You may be the Alphaverse's Assassin, girl, but I am the Omegaverse's Assassin!"
Amaya narrowed her eyes. "There is no such thing as an Omegaverse."
"There's not now. But just you wait. You and your stupid mission will be powerless to stop it." Jenevieve laughed manically.
"Justin." Amaya threw him a sideways glance. "I need you to commission me."
"Now's not exactly the time, Amaya!" Justin was losing patience.
"You didn't let me finish." Amaya said coldly. "I need you to commission me to kill Jenevieve."
Justin gasped. His mouth agape, he could only wordlessly shake his head. Amaya gave him the biggest death stare she had in her arsenal. He opened his mouth, hands trembling. "Amaya Arisnoe, I.....I hereby commission you to eradicate Jenevieve Barkley."
