The car stopped in the parking lot of the local beach. It was mid April so the weather wasn't amazing but that didn't stop us from going on a quiet walk along the sea front.
I kept complaining about my hands being cold and so Chan took hold of the one closest to him and shoved it in his pocket, claiming that it would shut me up.
He made me smile when he talked about the beaches in Australia and the walks he would take with his Mum when he was younger. I enjoyed hearing about his childhood because it made me feel like i had known him for ages. In return i told him about the trips to the park i had as a kid and how my Dad always said it was too cold for the beach, even if it was the middle of summer. It was nice to be able to talk about that stuff with someone. It had been so long since anyone was genuinely interested.
At one point we stopped to buy food and ended up sharing a portion of salty chips while sat on a wall facing the open waters.
When i had decided i had had enough of the temperamental weather, Chan drove us back to his place where i then left to go home.
The drive back was too quiet after all the time i had spent talking with Chan. I didn't mind though as i was certain we would meet up again soon.
