"Mama, what's happening? Why is the village on fire?" A one-tailed fox girl cried as her village was being burned into ashes.
"Is everything going to be okay?" She asked her mother as she was placed in a hidden shed. Tears falling down from her eyes, the mother hugs her child. Whispering her final words to her.
"Don't worry, everything's gonna be alright. I'll protect you, I'll protect everyone. And after all this, I'll make you your favorite thin fried tofu, okay?"
"Mhm!"
"But promise me one thing, don't come out until everything settles down, okay?" The mother said, her child nodding in response.
And with those words, the mother exits the house, her five tails swaying with her movements.
"Mama," the child muttered. Tears falling from her cheeks as she sulked in the corner, and eventually falls asleep.
Hours later, the child awakens. The village was left in silence. The child brings up the strength to leave the shed she hid upon, and exits the house. Only to discover, her village was all burnt into ashes, and was drenched in blood. Worried, the child immediately searched for her mother. Only to see, her mother lied in the ground, covered with blood, her tails were all cut off, as her whole body was stabbed with swords everywhere, even her severed tails. The swords were used to stop any further regeneration from happening.
The village was filled with the child's cries for her mother. If you heard it from up close, her cries would definitely be deafening.
