Judging Criteria

Here is the judging criteria! Please can judges send in the results of each book you judged SEPARATELY by private message. Bear in mind that participants can request the summary and their score so be constructively critical!

Title and Cover - Are they eye-catching? Fitting? Do they draw you in? [Points 0/5]

Blurb - Does it match the story? Does it give away too much or just enough to draw you in? Is it well-written and exciting or just a bunch of statements? [Points 0/5]

First Two Chapters - Are they exciting? Well-written? Do they make you want to read more? [Points 0/15]

Grammar/Punctuation/Structure - Is it well laid-out? Does it have varying paragraph lengths and varied punctuation? Are there loads of grammatical mistakes and errors? [Points 0/10]

Balance - Does it have a good balance between dialogue and description? Is the dialogue believable or staged? Can you imagine it in your head? [Points 0/10]

Believable Characters - Do the characters react in the way you would expect? Is it over-dramatised? Are the characters too perfect? Do they have too many flaws? Are they balanced? Can you relate to them and their emotions? Does the writing make you want to cry/laugh/feel scared? [Points 0/15]
