Scene 9 : Don't give up on me.

Kairav was snuggled up cozily in his dad's arm. Kairav was awake but his dad was sound asleep. Kairav tried to move but his dad was securely holding him in the sleep. He wanted to get up from the bed but snuggling in his dads was way too comforting. Kairav gave up in trying to get up and was lying with his asleep dad. He was happy to have Kartik around. But he really missed his mom. His change in expressions on his face, was enough for anyone to comprehend what a child goes through without the presence of the loving mom. Kairav was lost in his own world when Kartik's phone rang.

Kartik woke up with the ringtone. He fell asleep beside Kairav, when he returned back to the room, after Gayu updated him with Naira's condition, early in the morning. His eyes then met Kairav's. His baby was awake, in his arms. Kartik kissed his child's forehead and tried to give a smile, while wishing him good morning.

Kairav still cuddled up in Kartik's arm, gave the morning kiss, and said, "Good Morning Papa." Kairav smiled too at the sight of his dad, but the phone was still ringing. "Papa, your phone." Kairav asked Kartik to respond to that ringing phone.

Kartik turned around to check his phone. On checking the caller, he sighed. He felt the ache in his head, mounting. He was vulnerable and unstable with Naira's news; He rarely got any sleep to gather his thoughts together. He was already occupied with Naira and Kairav, and the last one he wanted to deal with, at the moment was the loveless married responsibility he has got himself into. It was hurting him to even think about the word married. He has run away enough from all of this, but anymore, he decided. The call was missed as he was lost in his thoughts.

But then, Kairav got his dad's attention back to himself, "Papa, will you come to drop me to my school, today?"

"Yes baby. Lets get you ready. Aaj papa will come take you to the school." Kartik replied, with his attention all for his baby child, but then his phone rang again. He was getting his irritation building up. He didn't want to be bothered by anyone anymore but just his Naira and his Kairav. He took a deep breath, composing himself. "Kairav, you should go to freshen up, I will come back after I attend few calls ok?"

Kairav smiled, nodded and got up from the bed and ran away to start his day.

"Kartik, Dadi is asking for you." She asked, as soon as Kartik answered his ringing phone.

"I am with Kairav. I will call Dadi later." He answered monotonously. "Vedika, I need to talk to you about something. Have you thought about what I asked of you, last time?"

She was quiet for few seconds, before answering, "I...Kartik, you should come home. Everyone is waiting for you. You are staying at Singhania's. It doesn't look good" She tried persuading.

"I have given you enough right and enough space to do anything you want there, but I don't remember giving you any right to dictate or teach ME about the rights and wrongs" He responded in composed yet slightly irritated tone.

"Kartik?" Vedika was taken aback with Kartik's tone. Never had he said anything like this to her. "I'm sorry but I wasn't trying to dictate you on anything, I was just..."

"Vedika! I don't want to get into this. I asked you about your decision. I have already expressed my apology for getting you in this mess of a situation, for giving you false expectations. I do understand your emotions and that's why I was allowing you to take your time. But I think you have already taken a lot of time. I do respect you, but shouldn't you put a stop, to all of this by now?"

It was after a month of Kairav's surgery that Kartik confronted Vedika about this mess of a situation, he, Naira and Vedika are in. He didn't want to hurt Vedika by keeping her in this relationship anymore. Whatever the equation was between Naira and Kartik, he knew it will hurt Vedika because he can never be what Vedika will expect him to be out of this marriage of theirs. He wanted to respect her but asked her to end this relationship. He gave her time, he has asked her to take time, for as long as she wants, so that she can think about this and be decisive in this matter. He never rushed or queried Vedika for the decision since their last confrontation. He wanted to respect her, since he was accountable for her life's chaotic of a situation. But now he wants to be selfish and greedy, because, now his Naira is concerned. He wants to be there for Naira, before he ends up regretting this any further. "I won't be able to survive if I lose her like this, again" He thought to himself with the pang of pain attacking him, once again.
