Life is really like this, huh? Todoroki thought blankly to himself as he was forced to train another day by his sad excuse of a father Endeavor way past his limits. At least I don’t throw up from training anymore.

Todoroki tried to rest a bit to ease his ragged breathing. They’d been training for a while without break. His father is a monster, but he didn’t want him to drop in the middle of the intense training, and would normally give him a small break.

Today wasn’t one of those days which, however, which meant that Endeavor just wanted a punching bag instead of training his son. Endeavor noticed he was trying to catch his breath and now there was going to be hell to pay.

“You’re already tired?” Endeavor sneered, stopping his advance on him.

They had moved on to their one-on-one fighting in the training session, and Endeavor had been close to immobilizing him. Although it seemed like Endeavor was going to stop training to make sure his creation was well, he was just going to start something much worse.

“Get up.” Endeavor spat, looking at Todoroki with disgust.

It felt like it was going to be an alright day, Todoroki lamented while standing up. He was drenched in sweat, but he didn’t think cooling himself down with his quirk would help sate Endeavor’s mood.

“Do you think you could become the number one hero and surpass All Might like this?” Endeavor delivered a blow to Todoroki’s chest after he stood up, “You’ll never become anything.” he threw another punch, but this time Todoroki dodged it and was planning his own hit.

“You’d be nothing without me,” he held Todoroki’s fist and punched his nose, “ And this is how you repay me?”

Did he just break my nose?? Todoroki thought as he aimed a punch at Endeavor’s face, but he just blocked it and kept fighting him.

Tears from the previous blow blurred his vision as he kept trying to defend himself and fight. He already knew where this was heading, though, since this wasn’t the first time this has happened.

But it might be the last, thought Todoroki as an idea that made him giddy struck him. He had a small smile on his face at the thought. I won’t have to suffer anymore.

“Are you happy that you’re trash?” Endeavor barked, his son’s smile infuriating him.

Endeavor attacked more aggressively, and ended it as it always did. Todoroki blacked out from the pain and exhaustion, leaving his father to mercilessly pummel his lifeless body.

The sun’s rays woke Todoroki from his slumber. I forgot I had to go to school today, Todoroki thought as slowly got out of bed.

There was a dull ache all throughout his body, and his head pounded as he went to the restroom. I’ll have to take a pill for that. My nose doesn’t hurt though, he must’ve gotten a nurse to do something about it. But pain wouldn’t be a problem for him for much longer he thought contentedly, I just have to get through school today.

He dressed after showering to get all that sweat off of him, humming a tune he’d heard from somewhere or other. He was careful not to touch any of the bruises scattered throughout his body Endeavor left him. That bastard. He made sure not to leave any in view so people won’t question where they came from. He won’t have to avoid questions for long though.

He strolled in the kitchen and helped his sister Fuyumi prepare breakfast.

“Aren’t you supposed to be at work already?” Todoroki asked, trying to engage in small talk, something he rarely does.

Fuyumi gave a tired smile and nodded,“ I wanted to make sure you were alright Shoto.”

She set the table for Todoroki and placed servings down for themselves and their brother Natsuo. Natsuo walked in, his hair wet from showering, and sat down at his seat.

“Good morning,” he greeted with a grin, “This looks delicious.” He waited until his siblings joined him at the table. “Thanks for the meal,” he said and began eating.

They held idle chatter as they all ate, and Todoroki occasionally joined in.

“You seem more lively than usual,” Fuyumi commented with a smile after they finished eating, “Did something happen?” She stood up and gathered her things for work.

Todoroki shrugged, “I’m just in a good mood.”

“Well, that’s good to hear,” she walked to the door, “I’m heading to work. See you at dinner!” Just as she was about to close the door she called back, “Natsuo make sure to clear the table and wash the dishes!”

Natsuo groaned but reluctantly did as he was told.

“You should get to school Shoto. I got it from here.” He said after Todoroki took his dishes to the sink.

He ruffled Todoroki’s hair, “Have a good day at school.”

School passed by in a blur. He went through his day on autopilot, waiting for it to be time to go home. Finally, the last bell rang, and he all but sprinted out of class.

“Todoroki?” Todoroki heard his name being called behind him, “Are you okay? You’ve seemed awfully distant the entire day.”

He turned around to see Midoriya looking over at him whilst packing up his school supplies.

“Hm? Oh, yeah. I’m fine. I just… had a rough night last night and didn’t get much sleep. It’s nothing, really.”

“Whatever you say. I’m here if you need to talk, okay?”

“Okay. Goodbye, Midoriya.” Todoroki spoke, trying to keep up his normal stoic appearance, but some sadness crept into his words.

“Bye Todoroki! See you Monday!” Midoriya smiled at him, then focused the rest of his attention to his supplies, packing them neatly into his bag.

Todoroki walked out of class, giving 1-A one final glance before exiting. He wouldn’t really miss much, other than Midoriya and…

“Get out of my way, extra!”

Someone pushed Todoroki from behind, causing him to stumble. He looked behind him to see his crush glaring at him, anger seething in his eyes. Todoroki tried to feel happy that he would see him one last time, but the only emotion that joined him was an overwhelming sadness, accompanied by a massive weight that seemed to be dragging down his heart.

“Why hello to you too, Bakugo.” Todoroki sarcastically spoke, regaining his thoughts and posture.

    “Whatever. Fuck off, Icyhot.”

Todoroki looked at Bakugo, regretting every moment when he wasn’t near him, regretting not confessing to him.

“Well then. Goodbye, Bakugo.” Todoroki began to walk off, leaving his crush behind him.

Other things preoccupied his mind as he headed straight home, finally able to do what he’d been thinking about.

After leaving all his things in his room he went to the bathroom. He closed the door and went to open the cabinet beside the sink, where they kept all their pills.

I’m sure if I take a lot of any of these it’ll be enough.

He browsed through his options, and a green bottle with an obnoxious orange label called out to him.

It’s a shame I didn’t bring water to swallow it down, and too bad my last meal wasn’t soba, he thought, wanting them to be his last thoughts. He poured out many pills onto his hand and threw his head back to swallow them.

There was a loud racket, the door burst open, revealing a livid Endeavor.

“What the hell are you doing?!?”
