"Three of clubs, nine of diamonds, five of hearts, king of hearts."

Daoming Si bit back a smile as he slowly spread the next four cards in his hand and displayed them for all to see. He felt Meizuo's relaxed stance behind him and resisted the urge to stick out his hand and high-five his good friend. They were F4 after all, and they had to play it cool; winning card games was something they did all the time so it wouldn't do to make a big deal out of this victory. But this... this was so much more than a card game to him. This was everything.

He eyed Qinghe's shocked expression with disinterest before moving on to the only person that mattered. Shancai was directly in front of him, looking more adorable than anyone had the right to look, her impossibly long eyelashes fluttering against her rosy cheeks as she stared at the cards in stunned disbelief. Her luminous skin appeared to glow against her yellow jacket and he stifled the sudden urge to reach out and play with the tiny braid peeking out amidst her jet black hair. They were nowhere near that level of intimacy and he didn't fancy losing any of his fingers today.

"Wait! You don't have the ace of spades. You lose."

Ah Si barely spared Qinghe a glance as Meizuo wryly pointed out, "That's because it's in your pocket." Unsurprisingly, the card was exactly where Meiuzo said it was; Qinghe sheepishly pulled the card out and Shancai's body slackened with defeat when she realized they had truly lost. His eyes softened and, not for the first time, he wished that she'd simply stop struggling and give him a fair chance. He understood that he had mucked it up royally from the moment they first met, but he knew now that they were meant to be together. Why couldn't she see that too? The sooner she gave in, the less heartache there would be for the both of them.

Shancai suddenly slammed her fists on the table and stood up with steeled resolution. "We lost. What do you want?"

I want you to stop fighting me. I want to spend time with you. I want to get to know you. I want you to get to know me. I want to be in your life. I want us to be together. I want you.

But he knew better than to voice his true feelings. She would probably laugh him out of the room, or likely kick him in the face again. He needed to follow the strategy he'd painstakingly devised, to slowly infiltrate her life and conquer her heart, and it all started with one thing - time together. Alone.

Ah Si casually touched his ear, signaling the start of his plan. Meizuo and Ximen immediately removed themselves and Qinghe from the room. Shoving the table away from him, Ah Si purposefully backed Shancai up until she was flush against the staircase and completely surrounded by him. His heart started to pound when she peered up at him from underneath those ridiculous eyelashes and it took a second for him to remember what he was supposed to do next.

"Treat me to dinner."

She pretended not to hear him and he almost groaned out loud in frustration. Why couldn't she make this easy on him? He repeated his request, much louder this time, and threw in a "Did you hear me?" just to vex her. Something sparked in her eyes and now she was back to glaring at him. That almost made him smile.

"I think all of China and even people in America heard you!" Shancai hissed angrily, balling her hands into small rebellious fists as she resisted the urge to kick him.

A satisfied smirk crossed Ah Si's face. "Good. When do you want to go?"

"I'm not going anywhere with you, you arrogant, pig-headed, infuriating pineapple head!"

Rather than exploding at her words, Ah Si remained calm and simply said, "You just lost the high-low card game. The Dong Shancai I know would never go back on her word."
