It was a beautiful night in Sanya. The sun had finally set, taking with it the magnificent plethora of colors that had adorned the clear skies. Vibrant shades of orange, purple, pink and blue gently melded into the darkness while glowing, twinkling stars eagerly took their place. The music on the beach was pumping loudly and freely, feeding into the frenzied energy of those on the dance floor. People were scattered everywhere, talking and smiling and flirting, all apparent beneficiaries of the liberal amount of alcohol currently making its way through the crowd. The air was electric and alive with anticipation – the night was young, and so were the occupants of the lively beach. Who knew what unexpected wonders the night would bring?

There was only one lone soul not enjoying the easy, celebratory atmosphere and that person was Daoming Si. He sat alone to the side, absentmindedly sipping on a glass of bubbly champagne, his mind anywhere but here. Dong Shancai had disappeared an hour ago and he was eagerly awaiting her return. Jing had said something about giving her a makeover; Ah Si's heart protested internally at the notion that there was anything about Shancai that warranted improvement (other than her feelings towards him), but he had to admit that he was curious as to how she would look in something other than those shapeless sweaters. He tapped his fingers impatiently against the stem of his glass and finally glanced around. His eyes narrowed and he couldn't help but scowl when he noticed Lei sitting next to him.

This was all Lei's fault! Ah Si had only meant to tease Shancai for a few minutes before giving her a hand up and pummeling the bastard who dared to raise his voice at Ah Si's princess; but Lei had stepped in like the drama queen that he was wont to be and ruined everything by forcing him to engage in that embarrassing tug-of-war. Shancai had fainted not long afterwards and she was still mad enough at him that she had turned down his offer to holiday in Hawaii. Of course that rebellious girl couldn't just tell him no - she had to rub it in his face that she was going to Sanya with Banana Boy. Please! As if Sanya had anything on Hawaii and Banana Boy had anything on the handsome, suave F4 leader. AS IF!

But somehow, against his better judgment, here he was in Sanya when he could be halfway across the world in Hawaii, swimming with turtles, eating fresh poke and enjoying authentic pineapple Dole whip.

Sometimes Ah Si didn't understand himself. Why Dong Shancai? Why did it matter to him where she went, who she went with, what she did with her free time? Whether she was happy or comfortable or well-rested? Why was it that numerous girls hit on him daily and yet the only one he wanted was the one who refused to acknowledge his presence and his feelings? Ah Si downed the rest of his champagne in one fell swoop, trying to chase away the frustration. It felt like the Universe was playing a joke on him and Ah Si was never on the receiving end of a prank.

Pouring himself another glass, Ah Si suddenly felt his entire body tense as his senses went into overdrive. He made the mistake of looking up without adequately preparing himself and his heart almost stopped when he caught sight of her. The oxygen thinned, the music faded, and the people disappeared. All he could see was the vision in white walking slowly towards him, her already beautiful features enhanced with only the barest hint of makeup, her normally stick-straight hair slightly curled, and her  creamy shoulders scandalously bare. Gone were the shapeless sweaters she preferred, and in their place was a tailored, classic white dress that showed off her dewy skin and hugged her soft curves in all the right places. As if she was not already alluring enough, Shancai cast her luminous eyes about the beach shyly, as if she was unsure of herself and her presence in this moment. Ah Si's heartbeat suddenly re-emerged, tripling in speed, and he had to remind himself to breathe. Was she kidding? He couldn't stop staring. She was perfect.

Ximen and Meizuo were saying something but Ah Si barely heard them; his concentration was singularly focused on the goddess standing before him. His heart yearned for her so badly that he couldn't believe she was immune to it. How could she not feel what he felt for her?
