Aurora's POV:
I was crying in Tanner's chest, hence he has picked me up so I could reach. I guess I liked being outside for once, but, everyone was worried and there were so many growls and dark shadows moving through the trees that never want to go outside again. My parents were right. The outside world is terrifying.
"Aurora!" I head mom and dad yell. I was then lifted from my brother's hold and I felt my parents hugging me between them.
"My little angel," my dad whispered to ensure that I was in fact there. "Why did you leave the house, little one? We told you to never leave. It's dangerous." I just continued to cry.
"I'm sorry daddy. I...I know... you told me... never to leave... but..." I drifted off. The image of the looming trees towering over me, threatening to swallow me whole came to mind. The black shadows shooting through the trees and the growls. It's so scary.
"Daddy I'm scared," I whispered.
Daddy let go of me so I could curl into mom and he kneeled down in front of me, still the same height as me, I'm that small.
"Wat are you scared of, angel?" He asked with worry in his eyes. I sniffed and let more tears escape my eyes. Daddy quickly wiped the tears away with his thumb.
"The trees were closing in on me and there were shadows and growling. Daddy, I'm scared of the outside. I'll never leave again," I finished with more tears falling down my cheeks.
"I know you won't angel. This is why we didn't want you to leave. There are so many dangers outside and we didn't want to scare you or have you get hurt," mom said. I lied down on mom's lap and continued to cry while she stroked my hair.
"Angel, don't cry. You're safe here. Nothing can hurt you while you're here. We'll protect you like always."
I continued to cry until I let out a small yawn. I saw Tanner instantly come over to me and lift me into his arms. I felt myself being carried away and up the stairs towards my bedroom. Tanner lied me down on my bed, cocooned me in covers, and gave me my grey stuffed bunny.
"Go to sleep little one, we'll come and get you for breakfast in the morning like always," he cooed to me. He then turned on the baby monitor so mom and daddy know if something's wrong, and he left my room, closing the door, and locking it from the outside. I let myself drift off to sleep, clutching onto my bunny in fear of whatever is lurking outside.
