"You'll never be criticised by someone who is doing better than you.. You'll only be criticized by someone you're doing better than"
~unknownCHAPTER 04-VISITORS
Kaduna, Nigeria..
It was a Monday morning. And as usual, Mommy:the drama Queen was yelling here and there.
"You idiot! What time do you have lectures today? By the way, I doubt if it is school you are really going" she yelled at Ra'eesah.
As calm as she is, like the cold water in a sea, she kept shut.
"Yalla come and wash my underwears" Saabira spoke.
"Don't deceive yourself! She's never going to wash your belongings..
And if not because you are a dirty illiterate human being, how can you assign someone to wash your rags.
Allah yahdeeki wollah.. I've never seen a heartless human being like you! Useless goat" Saajida retorted as she appeared from nowhere.
"Breakfast is ready Ma'am".. Hajju, their cook interrupted.
"Okay" Mommy replied dryly.
Aleeyu
Left alone in his room, deeply lost in his own predicament, he hardly thinks of anything else;apart from his wife and daughter.
His doctor comes in the morning and goes after isha prayers-daily.
Sadness is when you can't do anything about the condition of your house because of your health status.
Aleeyu shed tears on a daily basis. For according to him, he has failed his wife in so many ways.
She made him promise to her that he'll take care of her daughter through thick and thin.. But here he is -helplessly laying down on a sick bed_or maybe his death bed.
Oh life! Only if we know what you have for us in your store!
"Life ain't easy..
So you thought it was easy, but you now know..
It is all hailstones here, before the snow..For what comes just goes
Seeking unknown, searching somethingAnd one day, you learn without pain, we can have nothing.
Too afraid to let go, you hold on to fading memories.
Too sober to realize,
Melting life in a quest for basic groceries..Day after day, exploring the vibes, you all learn to grasp.
Cheating with a smile, hoping for a lie.. Till the last breath you gasp.
So you thought it is easy, but now you know it isn't"..
"Ya Rabbi lift the burden on my daughter. Grant her mother the highest rank in Jannah.. Grant me shifaa to be able to fulfill the promise I met to my deceased wife" Aleeyu prayed in his mind; for he cannot speak. Tears made their way to this cheeks like torrents.
Xxx
"Salaam Alaykum"(peace be upon you) a manly voice said.
"Check who's at the door Saabirah" mommy said.
Pleasantries were exchanged between Alhaji Ibrahim Fu'ad and Mommy;A_jay was silent all this while--his heart beating so fast.
"Have a seat, let me inform him". She spoke trying to be a little bit friendly.
Mommy doesn't enter Aleeyu's room until when she need money.. She never cared to check on him.. Ra'eesah also had to sneak into her father's room for the devil has forbidden her from doing so.
It was during the winter that Ra'eesah went to her father's room to help him bring out his blanket from the wardrobe that Mommy caught her.
She was castigated bitterly as Mommy had flogged her mercilessly and sent her to spend the whole night outside.
"You can go in" she announced leading the way.
"Ya Rabbi Aleeyu is this you?! Alhaji Ibrahim asked breaking down in tears completely.
Upon seeing Ibrahim, Aleeyu started sobbing like a little kid whose candy has been snatched away.
A_jay on the other hand was completely lost.
"What happened to you"? Questioned A_jay's dad.
I don't know Ibrahim.. Ever since Nour passed away, my life had turned drastically. And everything changed the moment I was involved in an accident.. You see, this marriage I was forced into, I don't know whether they did it on solidarity or not because my daughter's life has being a hell since then. She was maltreated_and is still being maltreated.. Aleeyu wrote on a paper and passed to his Friend.
"What about your company"? NouRa textiles?
(Nour Ra'eeesah =NouRa)
"It has been shut down. I had no one to look after it. So, I shut it down" he wrote -yet again.
This was how their conversation continued.
"Salaam Alaykum" Ra'eesah salaam-ed as she entered the room with refreshments.
"Wa'alayki-salaam" A_jay and his father answered in unison.
After greeting them, she moved to her dad..
"Daddy na how are you today?" She held his hand.
Unable to talk, he smiled.. --a smile that said so many untold emotions..
Love,
Heartbreak,
Apology,
Sincerity.
'Rouhie'? A_Jay called almost audible.. This must be my Rouhie.. He said in his mind..
Idiot there are elders in the room!
A_jay was smiling like a kid who was promised an ice cream when Ra'eesah walked out of the room..
After praying Asr, they decided to live for Abuja..
"I'll talk to Dr. Rufai insha Allah and we'll see what to do about your health" Ibrahim declared.
"And also about the company, I'll see to it bi'izhnillaah".
How about this chapter?
Does it makes sense?
Oh dearest Aleeyu.. Let's pray for a quick shifaa for him.
Ehm ehm! A_jay and his Rouh..
Tighten up your seatbelt.. For there are dramas ahead.
Ps: the chapters are unedited. Will edit them when I complete it InshaaAllah.
