CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Respecting parents.

Votes don't kill.. Please 😭💔

"Salaam Alaikum" she said answering the phone call. "Wa Alaykum as Salaam" how are you doing today? He spoke from the other end.
After exchanging pleasantries, they talked a little before hanging up.

"Ra'eesah you just have to see how you were smiling while on the phone. What was barrister telling you"? Saajidah teased.

"You have to cut this please. I wasn't smiling, my face was neutral. And AbdulJabbar was just asking of my well-being and you guys'. Am I free now"? She raised a brow.

"Yeah Yeah" Aamyy and Saajie both nodded dismissively.

"Salaam Alaykum" Ra'eesah muttered as she pushed the door that'll lead her into the parlor.

"Oh hey, you're back already. How was your day"? Aamyy smiled as she walked to give her a hug.

"Tiring, as always" she heaved a sigh. "where's Saajie"?

"In the room, sleeping".

"Aamyy I'm hungry. Have you cooked something"?

"Yeah. Lemme get everything ready. Go freshen up as I do so" Ameeynaturh walked away.

Ra'eesah

Once at the dining table, we settled down to a plate of saucy chicken and macaroni. Done, we washed it down with a cup of orange juice.

"Let me" I said to Saajidah as she started to pack the plates we used to eat.

"No, I'll"
"I insist"

After washing the dishes and setting everything in order, I crashed on the bed to catch a nap.

"Wake up babes. It's time for Asr" Aamy gently tapped me.

After praying, I switched on my mobile data and messages started popping up.

Jay💕: Hey, how are you doing?
I've been trying to call you but   your line wasn't through.
        Everything okay?
        Are you still in school?
         You tired?
        Hey come online please
        Ra'eesaaaaaaaaa🗣🗣🗣
I ain't giving up! Call me when you see my message please.

After reading the messages, my heart almost swelled out of joy. It's so cute to know that someone somewhere out there genuinely care about you.

You gat the feeling?

Tapping the call log, I patiently waited for him to pick up.

"I'm so gonna kill you besty" came his voice.

A smile made its way to my lips as I remembered how the 'Besty' name became our names.

"Geez, c'mon besty I slept off. I'm sorry"
"I am not letting this slide okay? You ain't going away without paying for this"

And that was how we kept talking for almost an hour and a half. After saying our goodbyes, I dropped the phone on my study table and walked to the living room.

Stepping in, I saw Ameey consoling Saajie. Something is definitely not right.. For Saajidah to break down, it must really be a big deal.

"Saajie, menene? " I asked with a very low voice. Instead of her to talk, she completely broke down. "It's Mommy; I hate her so much Wallah! She does not deserve the name 'Mother'.. Ya Rabb!" she finally said after crying for what seemed like forever.

"No Sajidah, don't say things like this. Whatever she's doing, she is still your mother; Thank God you still have your mother alive. Look at Ra'eesah and I.. Where are our mothers? They're no more.. Sabr My dear, it'll soon pass Insha Allah.

Saajidah might be anything but tolerant. She's always lenient with her mother; always. I've never heard her say things like this. Even when we were in a great chaos.

After letting her calm down, I spoke.

"Saajidah, The status of parents in Islam is very high. We as a Muslim should give respect and love to our parents. Parents are to be treated well at all times as this is a virtuous kind of act in sight of Almighty Allah. Parents and children in Islam are bonded together by mutual obligations.

It is obligatory for us to show the unconditional love, kindness, respect, obedience to our parents. Just like it is beyond our means to fulfill the rights of AllahSWT and to thank him for all his rewards and their integrity.

I don't know what it is between you and Mommy, all I'll say is be patient. Everything is going to be okay Insha Allah. Whatever it is, she is still your mother. Don't disrespect her please". I caressed her back hand with my thumb.

How do Saajidah tell Ra'eesah she's the main target in mommy's absurdity or whatever?

She could not bring herself to listen to what Ra'eesah was saying. She felt so ashamed right now.

The girl right in front of her is the girl that saved her when her mother threw her out of their house. She gave her a home to live and fed her! At a point helped her with registration fees. Even a family wouldn't do more than that.

And now her very own mother is about to destroy this young girl with a heart of gold.

No!! She have to act fast before her mother act irrationally as she always does.
