2 hours after wasting my time, I end up going to the village gathering which was apparently after 2 hours. I sigh. I could have had enough time to see what made that splash. Oh well.

Apparently, the gathering was about the increase of fog that has infiltrated our village. Our village is very superstitious (not me) so it is interpreted as an ominous message from the Gods. There is typically fog, but hasn't been this much for a long time. I honestly believe it is coming from the ocean. There must be some reasonable explanation for this fog, and I am going to find out what it is.I quietly sneak out of the gathering, praying that no one notices my absence.

Somehow, I ended up sneaking away undetected. By now, it is bordering the early evening hours. The fog is always the most around this area. I long to hear what the splash from before was, unfortunately, my mother had called for me. I look, now, into the ocean, hoping to catch a glimpse what previously occupied these waters. I feel a pair of eyes staring at me, but I can't see the owner of these eyes anywhere. I feel a shiver run down my spine as I feel a presence behind me.

I slowly turn around and scream before I even see who it is. When I opened my eyes, I see Tyer's face come into view. I smack his shoulder playfully.

"Tyer! You're almost scared me out of my skin." I told him, still trying to recover from that little surprise.

"Kaaya. I noticed you were sneaking away and I was afraid you were going back to the ominous ocean..." He pauses, glancing at the ocean."And I guess I was right."

"Sorry Tyer. I wanted to tell you, but I didn't want to take the chance of getting caught." I reply back honestly. But, now I feel bad for not informing him. His contorts to one of hurt, but then is replaced by an emotionless stare.

"Let's go back." He starts to grab my wrist, but we hear another splash in the ocean. Both our heads snap in the direction, one of us more anxious than the other. I start to walk closer, but Tyer grasps wrist hard. She shakes his head, as if he doesn't dare to speak. I am about to tell him something when Tyer points at the ocean. I look back and see a...head!?

I gasp and try to calm my breathing. Why is there a person in the ocean? I start to walk away toward the ocean, going to help the person. But, I feel Tyer grab my waist in an iron grip. What is wrong with him? He has always been protective of me, but he usually doesn't go this far.

"Tyer! Let go of me!" I don't mean to, but I raise my voice too loud and I see the head "swimming" toward us. Meanwhile, Tyer's attention isn't focused on the head, but on me. His face conveys shock. I slowly tug at his hand and point at the now moving head. He takes my arm and pulls me behind him. This time, I don't protest.
