Imperfect Love

Part 16

Over the next couple of days, Adler has been extremely possessive of me. I mean, he was already possessive, but this a new level. I can't even walk around by myself without one of his tentacles wrapped around my waist or wrist. It's extremely suffocating. After that incident with the boat, I apparently have to "wait until I am ready." I can't take it anymore so I make a proposal to Adler. 

"Adler. I am a living, human being. I need freedom. If you won't let me out, will you at least make a deal with me?" 

Adler seems to ponder on this for some time, with his hand under his chin, watching me with those amused eyes. 

"Hm...I am listening, my darling. What ever do you propose?"

I thought of this moment for some time so I am mentally prepared. I needed sometime that would appeal to him and help me get some freedom. I want freedom and independence, but I still don't want to leave him. Have I gone insane? 

"Adler. I want to race you. This time, its going to be more intense though. I suppose you can call it round 2." I smile. 

Adler's smirks and I continue talking. 

"In this race, I can use the new boat you brought me and you go in large form, but you have to swim slowly. Oh speaking of the boat, two things. One, you are not allowed to touch or demolish the boat in anyway until after the race." I look at his reaction. 

"Kaaya, my darling. You really think I am the type of person to do that. I wouldn't hurt a fly." Adler tries to act innocent. 

I mumble to myself. "You kidnapped me and you were about to kill my whole village until they relocated." I look at him, hoping he didn't hear my quiet words. 

Adler looks at me and frowns, suggesting that he did hear my words. But he ignores them and looks at me expectantly, waiting for the second condition. 

"When you are in your monster-" I am interrupted at Adler and I try not to get annoyed. 

"Ah ah ah...Darling Kaaya, pleasure don't call my true form my monster form. It hearts my heart hearing those words come from your beautiful mouth." 

This is what I am talking about. Beautiful mouth? That's sounds so creepy! 

"I am sorry Adler. I meant your TRUE form. In that form, you aren't allowed to hinder my progress at any point and you have to stay underwater. In fact, could you do the race in your humane form? Obviously, I cannot beat your TRUE form. I will take the surface and you take underwater." 

"Sounds good, my dear. Any other questions for me?" He asks, smirking like he knows he's going to win. Oh wait a minute...I forgot something really important! 

"Adler, how fast does the boat go?" I have to think smart if I want my freedom. I need to consider all factors including speed. 

"It goes around 200 mph." I believe that is fast. I am not sure though since we never had a motor-based vehicles in my village. 

"And how fast is your highest speed?" I ask hesitantly, knowing it would have to be way more than this motor boat. 

"At four times as fast as that little thing." I feel like my hopes deflate. I guess I didn't think this completely through. I just wanted to see my family, my sister, my friends- Tyer again. I missed him so much. I feel tears prick at my eyes at never seeing them again. 

Adler noticed this and instantly his smug face was replaced with a concerned one. His arms (and tentacles) were wrapped around me in a relaxed, but firm hold. I feel my body lean against him, almost again my own will. He rubs comforting circles on my back.
