It was all a blur, a tangle of emotions. Donghyuck gasped through his tears as he looked at his soulmate, seeing her face once and he felt the immense guilt.

He didn't want to die.

He was being selfish but he wanted her- even if he wasn't what was best for her. The tears blurred his sight and his lip trembled as fresh tears fell.
"PLEASE COME DOWN, P-PLEASE HYUCK I'M SCARED!" she yelled out through her painstakingly heart aching cries.
His heart saddened at the sound and he took one last look at the sky and smiled as he realised it wasn't worth it.

He had her.
His guardian angel.

And now everything made sense, what his Mother said that day- she knew Yuji would save him.
And she did.

Well at least she tried to.

Donghyuck coughed slightly, his raw throat scratchy and irritated. Sight still blurred, he listened to his soulmate at her pleads for him to come back safely. The rain fell down onto them harshly, he squinted through the rain, his feet stepping into the puddle next to him.

"I'M COMING ANGEL!" he yelled back over the harsh rain, wanting her to not feel scared anymore, he was yearning to be in her embrace once more.
He smiled as he watched her visibly sigh out of relief and he stepped forward towards the stairs, taking a step down the rain stained stairs.

Suddenly, his foot slipped on the wet concrete steps and he didn't even have time to act on his reflexes as his body went tumbling down the long flight of steps, landing with a deafening crack.

Yuji's eyes widened and her jaw dropped, stomach churning as she watched the love of her life tumble down the stairs so brutally, his head landing on the last step and his leg bent the wrong way.
She threw a hand up to her mouth, watching the dark red seep under his head and mixing in with the water forming around him.

The pool of blood sending waves of nausea and denial. She shook her head profusely, running over to Donghyuck who layed unmoving.
The front of her shoe hitting the pool of blood as she dropped to her knees in pure shock, not even tears fell.

Because he looked dead.
