"Yeah...?" He turned around slowly.

"You don't have to worry about it. I don't care, because I like you too." That was the first time I had ever told a boy directly how I felt, and I was scared, even though I knew how he felt. He smiled genuinely. I heard the door bell ring downstairs.

"Um, I'll be right back." I went into the bathroom, and locked the door. I leaned on the counter, and let out a long sigh. I stared at myself in the mirror. What did Austin see in me? I didn't understand, and I never would.

I pulled out my makeup, and put on a bit of concealer and blush. My face was really pale, and I knew exactly why, I just didn't want to face the reality of it. I carefully rinsed off the makeup from my arms. It really stung.

They were all bright red, and purple on the outside.

"Shit." I pulled out the peroxide from under the sink, and grabbed a few cotton balls. I cleaned each one, and hoped that would help. I grabbed my Brattleboro Union High School sweatshirt from the bathroom door and pulled it on.

I walked down the hall, and quietly walked back into my room. I looked up to a see a girl with long, blonde hair, on top of Austin. On my bed. Making out with him. My jaw dropped, and I felt anger build up inside of me like gasoline on a bonfire.

Austin had both of his hands on her chest. What the hell is this? A few seconds later, he saw me standing there, and pushed the girl off of him. She rolled over, and smirked.

"Madison. I-It's not what it looks like. She c-"

"Shut up! Get out of room! Both of you!" I screamed. The girl strutted out of the room like she owned the place, and Austin slowly walked to the door, his face flooded with guilt.

"Madison, I-"

"Out." I growled. He exited the room reluctantly. I slammed my door shut right behind him. As soon as I made it to my bed, I fell onto it and began crying.

*Austin's P.O.V.*

I sat outside of her door, and listened to her cry. Why did Taylor have to come in and automatically think I'd take her back? I cared about Madison. A lot, and Taylor had to come and screw it all up. Madison probably wouldn't forgive me. I mean, why would she? I sighed quietly, and buried my head into my hands.

I stood up abruptly, and left the house without a word.

"Austin! Come back!" Taylor whined from the doorway. I ignored her, and kept walking. I walked back to my house, and into my room. I threw myself onto my bed, and screamed into my pillow. I felt like crying, but I couldn't. I wouldn't.

*Madison's P.O.V.*

I sat on my bathroom floor, staring at my phone. I figured he would've tried calling by now. I stared at the razor blades that sat, hidden under the counter. My phone buzzed, which caused me to jump. I quickly answered it, unaware of who was actually calling.

"Hello?" I said frantically, expecting to hear Austin's voice from the other end, apologizing. I was ready to make him explain, to hear how guilty he was, or how it wasn't his fault.

"I'm here. Come on." I froze. I wanted to hang up and hurl my phone at the wall, but I sat there, frozen.

"I told you. I'm not coming back." I whispered.

"You want to. I promise, we can move to LA, and we can live a dream. I promise, I'll take it to the court and I'll win custody. I promise, Maddi. I promise." I stood up, and walked over to the small, rectangular window. I peeked out, to see a small blue car sitting outside. I squinted, to see my dad sitting in the driver's seat, a beer bottle in his hand. How he got away with drinking and driving, I didn't understand.

"I don't want to come back! I won't say it again! If you call me again I WILL call the police!" I hung up, and slammed my phone on the counter. My head was pounding, and my stomach clenched. I heard his car door slam. A few seconds passed by. Another door slam, then the screech of tires.

I spun around, and my eyes landed on a bottle of Tylenol.

"No. No, no, no. NO."

"God, help me." I laid on the bathroom floor, the cold tiles pressed against me.

*Austin's P.O.V.*

I rolled over, and ran a hand through my hair. I didn't know how long I'd been laying here, but I felt like crap, and I really didn't want to get up. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and cautiously dialed Madison's number.

It rang. And rang, and rang, and rang. And finally, I got her voicemail. She was probably upset, and laying in her bed, thinking. But a small part of me thought something was wrong.

"I'll give her 10 minutes. Then I'll go check on her." I said to myself. I laid on my side, and eventually fell into a light sleep.

My eyes drifted open. I checked my phone, to see I had slept for thirty minutes. No missed calls. No voicemails. No texts. I rolled out of bed, and headed back over to check on Madison. I walked through the front door, to see about ten people, including Alex, sitting in a circle on the living room floor.

"Has Madison come down?" Everyone shook their heads. Taylor smiled and winked at me, but I completely ignored her. I jogged up to her room, and knocked on her door. There was silence. I tried her phone again, but I got her voicemail again. This time, I felt like something was seriously wrong.

"Madison." I waited for a response. Nothing.

"Madison! MADISON." I was pounding on the door this time. I turned the knob, and the door swung open. Her room was empty. I rushed over to her bathroom, and pounded on the door.

"Madison! Open the door." I could see the light shining through the cracks, but there was silence. I laid flat on the floor and peered through the slim crack at the bottom of the door. A shadow on the floor. I struggled with the door, but it was locked.

"Damn it!" I bolted downstairs.

"Alex, where's the master key?" I asked frantically.

"Top left drawer in the kitchen." He was too involved with his friends. I fumbled around in the drawer for what felt like forever. I was shaking by now. I slammed the drawer, and grabbed all the keys I could find. I ran back upstairs, and dumped the keys in front of the door. The first key I picked up had 'MASTER' written in bold, black letters.

"Of course." I jammed the key into the door knob, and slammed into the door. Madison sat huddled on the bathroom floor, crying. A bottle of Tylenol sat on the counter, untouched.

"You scared me." I collapsed next to her, pulling her close to me. She started to cry harder, her cheeks bright red.

*Madison's P.O.V.*

A few hours later, I finally calmed down. We were both still in the bathroom, and Austin was stroking my hair softly.

"T-thank you." I whispered, trying to catch my breath. I'd be surprised if he stuck around after seeing me like this.

"Anytime, Maddi. Please don't scare me like that again. I'm really sorry."
