I landed in Los Angeles on a Wednesday afternoon.
I loved the feel of the city though it got overwhelming at some points. It reminded me of my times in Dallas with Peter where I was able to get away from myself for a while. I got myself a cab and loaded my one suitcase into the trunk before climbing in. I gave the address Kirstie had texted me and tried to get my thoughts together as the cab driver drove along. This would be the first time I see Scott since we said our goodbyes a year ago and I wasn't sure what to do.
I'd changed a lot in the past year. Not just physically but as a person too. My weight was still low but I had an easier time eating around people now. I could even go to a party without completely freaking out, and if I did, I knew how to calm myself down and try again. The best thing though was how confident I'd become in the past year. I had no idea how I would do singing in front of all of these people but I would have my two best friends in the entire world right by my side the entire time.
The taxi pulled up to the hotel and I dragged the suitcase onto the elevator. Every possible thought went through my head as the elevator slowly went up, counting number by number as if it were mocking me. Of course they had to be on the fourteenth floor.
I fixed my snapback and kept adjusting my t-shirt anxiously. "Come on..." I scolded the elevator, and finally it stopped and the doors opened. I dragged the suitcase along as I searched for the room number, butterflies flying wildly in my stomach as I did. I found their room - 108 - and I froze. I put my suitcase next to the door and listened carefully for any sign of life. I heard music playing and dull laughing, but to make out any words was impossible.
I started to panic and let myself rest against the wall until I got myself together. There were two new people that I was about to meet and I had no idea how they were going to be towards me. They ended up finding a beatboxer and his name was Kevin, but that was all I knew about him.
I took one last deep breath before my phone went off in my pocket and I saw Kirstie had texted me.
Kirstie: Let me know when you're close. <3
I smiled and laughed to myself as I turned and knocked on the door abruptly. I heard a shriek and then the door flew open. My jaw dropped when I saw my beautiful best girlfriend as a blonde bombshell. "What the fuck is this?!" I took strands of her hair into my hands and she started laughing before she jumped into my arms.
"I missed you!" She squealed as I held her tight. I swung her around a couple of times before placing her on her feet and swaying her back and forth.
"God, I missed you too. You have no idea." I said to her. The smell of her perfume relaxed me so much...it made me feel at home.
She stepped back and put her hands on my face. "You look so good, Mitch." She said happily.
"You do too." I said, looking her up and down. "You as a blonde is perfection." I said to her and she put the back of her hand on the bottom of her chin.
"I really like it!" She said happily. "Get your stuff and come meet everyone." She put her hand on my face again and then I walked away to get my things.
I started to pick up my suitcase, but a hand overtook mine. I looked up at and my brain went to mush.
"Long time, no see, stranger." Scott smiled at me sweetly and I let go of the suitcase so he could hold it. I immediately put my arms up to wrap around his neck and he dropped the suitcase to hold me tight against him.
