Love you guys!!

All night all I could think about was Scott, as if that were a huge surprise. I couldn’t get his smile out of my head. The way he looked on stage when we were performing…which was all still so surreal to me. This entire experience felt like a perfect dream that I was going to wake up from soon, but then there was something to remind me that this was, indeed, reality.
Scott was dating Avi’s sister, Esther.
“He never dated anyone else besides Anna in high school so I never had to go through this!” I vented out to Ally on the phone. “Now he’s with this girl and she’s really nice but I HATE HER!”
“Relax!” She scolded me over the phone. “Mitch, you know he’s straight.”
“Yeah, right!” Grace yelled in the background, making me roll my eyes.
“I know he is!” I said. “But really…this is all too real now. What do I do?”
“I mean…the only thing you can really do is just move on…” Ally said. “I hate to say it because I know how much you like him but you’re just going to get hurt if you keep waiting around.”
I shut my eyes in disgust. “You’re right…he’s just so…wonderful…he’s so protective and he’d never hurt me.”
“Like Jamie did.” Ally said quietly, fringes of guilt hanging on her words. “I’m so sorry…”
“Don’t start again…” I said sweetly to her. “You don’t have to apologize…you didn’t know…”
Grace interrupted. “Are you sure Scott’s straight?”
I raised an eyebrow. “He’s literally dating a woman so yeah I’m sure?”
“He could be bi!” She said.
I shook my head. “I’ve never seen him once check out a guy.”
“Well, have you ever seen him check out a girl?” Grace had taken the phone now and her voice was loud and clear.
“Well, no…” I said and tried to recall a time. He’d never really had a real interest in chasing girls back in high school. He just wanted to hang out with his friends.
Ally took the phone back. “We have to go…”
“Hey!” Grace yelled.
“I have class and Grace needs to find a job.”
I audibly heard Grace scoff in the background.
“Listen, Mitch…we don’t want to see you get hurt again.” Ally lowered her voice. “You’re currently in a hotel with a lot of males around the same age as you. With a big similar interest…you get what I’m saying?”
My heart hurt. “Yeah, I know what you’re saying.”
We hung up a few minutes later and I sat down at the foot of my bed. I wish they hadn’t been all the way in New York City because at least they’d be able to distract me from the thought of Scott with someone else. I threw my head in my hands and thought for a long moment. We had a day off today and tomorrow was our next day of rehearsals. The only thing we had to do today was attend a dinner for all contestants. It would be kind of public, but maybe Ally was right…there were a lot of boys here that were my age that liked to sing. There had to be someone I could have fun with.

“I need this vinyl.” Avi said as we walked down the main strip in LA, looking for a record store to dip into. “Need.”
