10. Shocks!

"It was nearly 3 years ago... They had completed 5 years of their best friendship. Agni always had bitchiness in herself but... Riya was a greater bitch. That year.. Agni had just got a new boyfriend... He was hot AF! And everyone knew what big a crush Riya had on him... Agni at first declined to his proposal but Riya... She insisted on accepting the proposal.. Strange it was... No one knew the reason. And yeah... Do u know that she dealt with drugs?", she asked.

"Who? Riya?", I asked shocked. "No dude... Agni" , she whined.

What? But why would she do that?

"I will take ur surprise as a no..", she said and continued, "Soon.. The bond between the three of them was weird. It seemed like Riya and Agni's boyfriend were partners while Agni was the third wheel... And then the same random shit happened and everything spilled apart..", she sighed.

"Random shit?", I asked. "The same old story... Agni caught Riya and her boyfriend making out.. Apparently Riya had talked things about Agni and got him to bed..", she explained.

"How can this be a random shit? It is a serious issue.. And Agni didn't do anything after that?", I asked. "Riya and Agni had cracked a deal... I know everything because.. I used to be their special customer.. But now they don't deal with drugs.. Although they sometimes deal with chaffs and fags", she replied.

But as far as I know... Agni isn't someone who would leave anyone that easily.

Now it was she, herself who can tell me everything.

I turned to face Sohail. "You knew this?", I asked. "Bro... I wanted to say it to u.. But I didn't know how to..", he said. "It's okay.. I understand..", I said.

The next day in the college.. I was asked to submit some forms in the office. I was outside the office when I saw Agni with her head hung low.

"What happened?", I asked her. "Nothing.. The same old shit... Parents-meeting", she briefly said. I chuckled at that and I spotted a blue bruise on her knuckles.

Before I could ask her something, I was called in. When I completed my work and went out... She wasn't there. It was way too quicker.

My phone buzzed with a message from Sohail.

"Teacher is absent... Wanna hang out?", it read.

"Sure.."

"Cool.. Meet me at the corridors in 10".

On my way... I met Agni. "Hey!", I beamed. "hey..", she said non-chalantly.

"U don't seem good..", I asked concerned.

"Why does it seem that.. U care?", she asked.

"Yeah.. Probably I shouldn't be even approaching you...", I said.

"I just want to get the fuck out of here..", she exhaled and ran past me.

I never thought.. How her absence.. Would affect me.

I never took into her carefully.

I never thought how important he was for me.

I always thought... She was just another bitch in my life... But she was way too much important.

Or else... Why am I even digging into her?

"Hey bro! U took time...", Sohail ruffled my hair. "Sorry...", I said looking into the direction she just went.

"Let's go for a coffee..", he offered. I smiled... I didn't want to ruin his mood.

"U better.. Stop investigating on her..", he said. "Why?", I asked shocked.. "Because.. I hope u don't want heart attacks...", he said. "Wait a second.. u know everything about her?", I asked. "Yeah.. But I ain't gonna make the same mistake again..", he said. "What is it?", I asked. "I can't say... I have already ruined things..", he said.

Now my best friend d is turning mysterious too..

What's up with the universe?

By the time we reached college... Our other classes had started and I don't think I got to see her.

I saw her once near the lockers while she had more bruises and cuts... I guess some kind of fight.

She was so off.

I wonder where does she disappear at times? It is very rare that u get to see her in the right senses.

Chunking in a bite of my 'pander roll' , I went into the library in search of some chemistry books.

I found the least expected person there.

Agni.

She had her one leg upon the other and her head phones on.

I guess... She will shake me off the moment I start talking to her.

She looked up at me once.

She looked so vulnerable. It looked like... She needed somebody to talk to.. But had none.

Hesitantly... I went near her.

"So.. U okay?", I asked.

"Yeah..", wow.. She was actually talking to me.

"Can I ask u a question?", I asked.

"Yup..", she said.

"Why do u smoke?", I asked.

"There is absolutely nothing that I aim at or I like to do.. The only thing I love is Smoking, drinking and all other bad shits..", she said.

Okay.. I guess she is in a good mood.

"Can I ask u another question?", I asked.

"Yeah.. Question bank", she said.

"Question bank?"

"That is what u r acting like right now"

"What is the deal with Riya and all?", I asked

Her face dropped at the remembrance.

She looked so drowned and lost.

Her lips quivered.

"U don't need to know..", she said as she got up.

"I fucking need to know.. Did u forget that we r friends?", I asked angrily.

"Not now.. I will say u when it is the right time..", she said.

"And when is this right time?", I asked.

"Never..", she replied.

"Please.. Talking will relieve u..", I convinced her.

"okay.. I will say.. But it will be a secret..", she cracked a deal.

"Okay...", I said all happy.

"not here.. Meet me at the Zengros at 5.30 sharp.. Then I will say..", she said.

"Okay..", I said a bit confused.

And as she got up she fell back wincing in pain holding her stomach.

"Stomach ache?", I asked.

"No.. It's nothing ... ", she said and stood up covering up her agonized Face.

Too much cover up.

Being all happy... I was going through the books. I had to read the book names twice to get them. Ahh! Agni.. Get off my mind!

I was so happy... But fate had something in store for me.

I looked around and gasped in shock at the sight in front of me.
