Finally, Peter thought, as he stood in front of his apartment building. It was now 8 at night.
The fight against Thanos was intense, and they barely won, if not for Natasha and Tony's sacrifice, the whole universe would have ceased to exist.
Even though Tony and Natasha sacrificed themselves for the greater good, it didn't make the grieving any easier.
Peter climbed up the stairs to his apartment, to find the door locked.
It's not surprising, he thought. He knocked on the door, but nobody answered, he knocked again, still no answer.
That's weird, it's still early for May to be sleeping, and she finished her shift a long time ago.
At that moment, Mrs Williams, a sweet old lady, that lives next to them, came up the stairs carrying grocery and noticed the teen standing outside his apartment.
"Peter? Is that you?" She asked.
Peter turned to face her and gave her a small smile. "Good evening, Mrs Williams."
"Why are you outside?" She asked.
"My aunt isn't answering the door."
Her smile dropped, and she walked closer to the teen.
"Oh dear, you don't know what happened?"Peter's heart started racing, "I got snapped away five years ago, the Avengers fought Thanos and brought everybody back."
"I don't know how to tell you this but..." She trailed off, "Your aunt died two years ago; I'm so sorry."
Peter froze in his place. He couldn't move, and he felt as if his heart stopped working.
Silent tears ran down his face. Mrs Williams took a step forward, but Peter flinched. He ran down the stairs, and once he was out of sight, he pulled on his spidey mask, shooting a web to a very high building and sitting atop of it.
He couldn't stop crying, tears just kept rolling down. He started hyperventilating, and his heart rate started rising, so Karen tried to get him help. "Peter, your heart rate is dangerously high, I will contact Miss Stark so she can help you." She said, her monotone voice echoing in his mask.
"Karen, do-don't." Peter chocked out.
"I'm sorry, Peter, but you need help. Contacting Miss Stark."
The phone rang a few times before Pepper picked up. "Peter? Is everything okay?" She asked him. Her voice was quiet as if she had been crying, which she probably was.
Peter couldn't speak, the only sound coming out was his cries.
"Peter? Answer me, please. What's wrong?" Her voice was now laced with worry.
"Aunt May, " He said. Just saying her name brought more tears.
"What about her?" Now Pepper was getting more scared.
"She died. Two years ago."
"Oh, Pete. I'm so sorry. I'll call Happy so he can pick you up and bring you to our house."
"Thank you, miss Stark."
"My pleasure." She said and hung up.
Peter, now much calmer, stared down at the city below him. The view would have been beautiful if Peter wasn't sad.
A few minutes passed by, and a black Audi pulled up in front of the building. Peter jumped down, knowing that that car belongs to Tony. He opened the passenger door and climbed in.
Happy looked at him, feeling bad. "Hey, kid."
"Hey," Peter whispered. He was very tired that he couldn't even speak.
The ride to the Stark Residency was quiet. Happy parked the car in the garage and climbed out, followed by Peter.
Pepper noticed their arrival and opened the door for them. She looked at Peter and immediately hugged him tightly, her mother instinct taking over her.
Peter wrapped his arms around her, burying his head in her shoulder, and he started to cry again.
Pepper stroked his hair, trying to calm him down. She broke the hug but kept her arm around him in a side hug, and led him into the living room; they both sat on the couch.
Happy looked at her, and she nodded, letting him know that she can handle it herself. He smiled at her and exited the house.
She returned her attention to Peter, waiting for him to calm down. Once he stopped crying, he spoke up, "I'm very sorry for disturbing you, I know you have your own problems, with Mister Stark now gone, " his voice cracked remembering his father-figure.
"You didn't disturb me. I've Always loved you as if you are my own son. And I know how tough it must be to lose two close people at the same time."
Peter smiled at her, but that smile soon faded, and his brows crept close to each other, "but now I don't have anywhere to go. If CPS knew they will probably put me in an orphanage."
"You can stay with us, I don't mind. I'd love if you lived here." She smiled fondly at him.
Peter relaxed, and let out a sigh of relief, "thank you so much."
At the moment, they heard small steps coming down the stairs, followed by a small voice, "Mommy?"
Peter and Pepper turned their heads towards the voice behind them and found Morgan standing, rubbing her eyes. "Where is daddy?"
Pepper went and picked her up, sitting back at the couch. "Daddy left, he's not coming back. I'm so sorry." Pepper explained to her 5-year-old daughter, tears spilling again from her eyes. She hugged her tightly as Morgan started to whimper.
Peter couldn't hold in his emotions any longer, and he started sobbing again. This was all so hard to deal with. And don't forget that all of this is happening while he is only 16.
By 10 o'clock, Peter was in bed. He took a shower and got some clean clothes from the closet. Apparently, Tony made him a room and designed it how the teen would like it. It had the latest Stark Technology, books and lego sets everywhere. In Peter's eyes, it was perfect.
He laid in bed and pulled the covers over his body. He was so tired, both emotionally and physically, all he wanted was to sleep.
