"Move your asses! You sissies better get in shape before the season starts, what am I running here, Girl Scouts?" my coach yelled at us, which was extremely sexist by the way.

We were in the midst of pre-season training, which was hell every year. Our town, West Franklin, is a football town, so our performance is taken very seriously.

"You heard him, Miller," wide receiver, Cole, said to me. He's just salty since he's been jealous of me since freshman year because I've always been better than him. And to be honest, I don't blame him. He has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, except for his ass, which is pretty nice.

Oh yeah, by the way, I'm gay. Like really gay. I've known ever since 7th grade when I watched Romeo + Juliet for the first time. What can I say, Leo just hits different.

This is my senior year at West Franklin High and I'm not going to let anything fuck up the act I've been putting on. I have no intention of coming out anytime soon.

When I came out to my parents this summer, my mom was cool with it and my sister, Sarah, swore she already knew. My dad, on the other hand, wasn't too happy and practically disowned me. It was fine though, kind of, because him and my mom are already divorced.

They split up three years ago when my dad confessed to my mom that he had been having an affair with his secretary and had gotten her pregnant.

Once practice ended, coach dismissed us to the locker room.

"Hey dude, are you showing up to Jack's party Friday night?" asked Eric, one of my teammates. He is one of the more tolerable ones on the team and conversations with him aren't as basic and idiotic.

"Nah, I don't think so," I replied. High school parties are full of horny privileged teenagers. There is no need to subject myself to that form of torture.

"Come on, you never show. He said his cousin is bringing her hot friends this time. Plus, I think Juliana's going to be there."

Juliana is a girl every guy finds attractive and has been trying to get with me for years now. So has almost every girl in my grade. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm not exactly lacking in the looks department and girls pining over me was the norm.

But, you never know. Maybe some fun could come from the party and free booze is always a pro.

"Ok, I guess I'll try and come for a bit but I'm not making any promises."

"Good. You need to go out more, and this is our first senior party, it's no time for you to be sitting at home," Eric said.

I hope I didn't make the wrong decision by agreeing to this.

When I arrived home, I immediately got in the shower. Practice was exhausting and the stress from the the impending first day of school tomorrow is enough.

After I got out of the shower and jumped in bed, literally, I quickly realized that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep. The first day of school was always stressful for me. I risked the chance of meeting someone who could potentially blow my cover.

I've hooked up with plenty of guys in the past and my school is always taking in new students. I know, I know. I'm probably being paranoid, but in a small town like West Franklin, you never know what people might think when the star quarterback is gay.

I reached to turn off my lamp and buried my head under the covers. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
