Dan sat comfortably in the passenger's seat as Phil drove them to her house.
"Take the next left, Phil." Dan directed as Phil followed. It was a cloudy evening, cold winds rushed by as Dan looked out the window. He closed his eyes, feeling the cool air rub against his skin. The streets were all too familiar, he knew they were close.
"Are we there yet, Dan?"
"Almost, just keep going straight ahead." And so Phil did, until they reached.
"Right there. Yeah, you can park here." Dan said, pointing at a certain house.
Phil pulled the brakes and looked across at the boy sitting besides him. "I still don't know if this is a good idea, Dan."
Dan sighed, "me neither." And with that he opened the door and walked out, followed by Phil.
"The lights aren't on, meaning she's probably asleep. So that's good." He spoke quietly.
"You know, we could potentially get arrested for trespassing."
"Potentially, yes. But we won't. Now c'mon, we have things to do." Dan held Phil's hand and dragged him towards a car parked right outside her house.
Without a thought, Dan pulled open the Skoda Fabia's passenger side seat. "I knew it. She never locks her car. Wouldn't be surprised if someone ever stole it." He shrugged and then hopped inside.
He started by scattering the goldenrods across the dashboard. He crushed the flowers with his hands and randomly threw them around in the car like confetti.
He jumped out, and softly closed the door. "Phil, hand over the spray paint." And so Phil did. He then spray painted on the car a sentence that read, "flowers for m'lady."
Phil quietly chuckled, "that's funny."
"Thank you. But c'mon, we have more things to do." Phil simply just nodded and trailed behind Dan who was now walking up to her porch. He pulled out of the plastic bag some chrysanthemums and laid them outside the front door. Stuck to the chrysanthemums was a note, which read "RIP to my feelings towards you."
Dan smiled cheekily as he walked past Phil. He hurried towards the backyard, which was guarded by a fence which wasn't so hard to climb anyway. And there he stood, below her window. Except he wasn't here to sing songs for her till she took him back.
"Now how do you plan to get up there, Dan?" Phil whispered.
"I don't." He whispered back, "could you maybe hold this phone's flashlight while I look for the house keys?"
Phil raised his eyebrows in shock, knowing exactly what Dan was talking about.
"Dan, no. We can't just break in like that." Phil warned.
"Don't worry, Phil." He pinched Phil's cheek.
He began to look around. Under rocks, behind bushes, in a hole or something. And there it laid, in the grass, glistening as if it was letting Dan know where it was.
"There we go." He cheered, picking it up and holding it in Phil's face.
"Dan.. this is a really bad idea."
"Okay Phil. You can go stay in the car. I should come out running in about 5-10 minutes. And then we speed away, far away from here." He explained. Phil nodded softly, still not confident about this plan.
They walked around the house, back to the main door. Phil walked away, wishing Dan best of luck. Dan twisted the key slowly into the door, and then he pushed it slightly. The door croaked slightly, but nothing to be worried about.
He entered the house, not bothering to close the door behind him. The light beaming in from the open door made his vision clearer and allowed him to not accidentally bump into furniture.
As he climbed up the stairs, he used his phone's light to help guide him. And there he stood, outside her room, who's door was surprisingly open.
He walked in, not worried about making noises because he knew she was a heavy sleeper.
He began by scattering flowers around her desk, her closet, a pile of clothes kept in the corner. And finally her bed.
He could've just left with that. But it wasn't enough. Dan quietly kept a note on her bedside table that read,
"dating me comes with a lot of advantages. One of them being, I'll bring you flowers even after we break up.
D <3"He then took a deep breath, and picked out a daisy. He brushed it against her lips, and laid it there. She breathed in the pollen, her nose twitching a bit. And that's when Dan made a run for it. He stormed out the room, and out the big house, throwing around pollen-infused flowers like confetti as he ran.
When he finally exited the house, he heard screams in the background. He smiled to himself and immediately got in the car with Phil.
"Go, go, go!" He yelled, and so Phil did. He drove away from the house as Dan laughed his heart out sitting in the passenger seat.
