It was dark, pitch black, with nothing in sight. All he could see was a tall dark figure standing before him. In fear, he tried to run away, but could not move a single mucle in his body. The figure approached closer, and at this point, Alex was screaming for help but no voice came out, as if his vocal cords were stolen from him. The figure then reached out its hand towards his head.

Do not fear child, for you are chosen to wield my power, all I ask is your allegiance. Do you accept?

Alex became more scared, hearing the figure's dark monotone voice that filled his mind. He struggled to move, "I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE" was all he thought of. He began to open his mouth and tried to scream with all his might, possibly forcing him to wake up. The figure turned silent at his actions and struggles then voiced out

Very well then, I shall await your answer some other time...I will see you very soon Alex...

It then snapped its fingers and with a shock, Alex woken up from his bed, crying and gasping for air. He held his neck as he sat up, looking around his room. Suddenly a bolt of lightning pierced through his floorboards and his bed, inches close to his body.

"QUIET YOU ANNOYING BRAT! BEFORE I SEND YOU TO THE DOCTORS AGAIN!" A voiced echoed out from the hole the lighting bolt made from downstairs. Alex only sighed at the angry voice and wiped away his tears. Soon, he got up and got dressed quickly and headed downstairs.

He soon found his two so-called "family" members sitting at the table eating breakfast. As he entered the room, the two of them, his father and his brother paid no attention to him but instead kept eating. As he sat down, he looked at what they were having, and judging by the empty plate of crumbs and leftover bits of food, he can tell they had a meal fit for a king but in his mind, for pigs.

He looked at his own plate that only had a half slice of bread and a few berries. He looked at his father, who was already full at this point, and wondered why is this his breakfast today. The man wiped his mouth with a handkerchief and looked at his son who was staring at him.

"Sorry, looks like we overdid it and ate your portion" said the man sarcastically "Hey at least you have a meal at this table, and you better be damn grateful for it " pointing at Alex's plate.

His brother, Noxah, stood up from his seat

"Father I have to go train with the avatar of fire now" he said politely to his father as he grabbed a jug of orange juice. "Oh brother, why don't you take a SIP! "  as he poured the jug onto his sibling's head, soaking him entirely.

"Oops, I thought you could've deflected that with your element. OH WAIT, YOU DON'T HAVE ONE!" as he left the room laughing along with his father sadistically.

Alex once again sighed and calmed down at their actions as he was left alone. He recalled what his mother said to him "The best way to win a fight, is to never fight it at all" he thought, as he was reminded of his position, a hopeless welp without an element. He suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head, as he saw the dark space he was in in his dream, remembering the words from the figure;

...I will see you very soon Alex....

Alex shook his head and snapped out of it and began to ate whatever was left as his breakfast. He then stepped outside after taking a shower for his daily jog. As he made rounds around the village, he saw many people around him with their elemental abilities, some were using the power of fire to light up some furnaces, some with water to help their garden grow, lightning to power their machines and many more. He stared at them using their powers with ease, feeling a bit jealous that was born with none. He continued his jog until suddenly he felt the earth below him began to rumble, then shot out a spike made from hardened earth, trying to impale him. At this, Alex quickly jumped before it could skewer him due to his sharp reflexes.
