Night happens to be the most peaceful time of the day. With the silence of the night, your heart finds it's peace. With its quietness and the break from all the chaos, the night brings a certain kind of tranquility in someone's mind.
In the quiet of the night when others sleep, one can even hear the heartbeats clearly. With heart and mind making peace with nature, the night provides the needed clarity to the mind, to understand the heart. Though these two functions within the same structure, their thoughts barely synchronize with each other, at least for the people who ignore the heart's existent completely. The people like Shivaay Singh Oberoi.
A man, for whom the heart is all that he has read in his biology book. For whom it is nothing beyond a blood circulating organ. For whom, the only kind of heartbreak is the heartaches or better say attacks that he experienced due to his weak heart condition.
But today, there's something different in the air. Something soft, cozy and warm. Something that is making him feel jitters in his body. Something different. Something that is making his nerves sing a certain tune. He felt like reciting Om's unreasonable poetries loudly.
When in school, he heard stupid tales about crush and first love from his brothers. Especially from Rudra. He if nothing else has always detested them with whole heart. He has always either laughed at them or felt irritated for their stupidity.
But for some strange reason, he found himself standing on the same path tonight. Feeling a soft smile creeping up his face, he cupped his mouth hard. With his eyes going wide and ears red due to embarrassment, he moved towards the poolside. The place which provided him with peace from his childhood. Deeping his feet in the pool he kept looking at the far end of the arena. The moonlight playing peek a boo from the leaves of the poolside tree was making the whole atmosphere so romantic...err solemn.
Why was he finding everything so romantic suddenly? Taking in the surrounding he found the curtains dancing at the light breeze. He was irritated cause all his thoughts were directed at only one point. He didn't know why. All he could see was those beautiful eyes, those long eyelashes dancing on the face drawing an unearthly picture of serenity on that face. That face, that used to mark trouble for him was looking like as if of an enchantress. Messing with his mind and pulling at his nerves, but softly and directing them towards the owner of the face. As if those lips had their own story to tell, even when she was in deep sleep. Those lustrous curls dancing on her face were calling out to him. Loud and clear.
He couldn't take it anymore. He felt weird, a sudden jolt of shiver was awakening inside of his body making him shiver. He felt alarmed. His peace was snatched from him. For some reason, even the pool wasn't able to soothe himself down, another first in his life since he discovered this part of the mansion in his childhood.
He moved towards his room in agitation only to remember about the sleeping figure, laying on his bed snatching his sleep. Tiptoeing till his bed, he grabbed his laptop to work, sure about the absence of sleep for the night.
It was while picking up his laptop from the nightstand, he felt a soft smell. Turning at the side he was blessed with the best view of his life. His stupid wedding planner sleeping on her stomach, those dark curls covering most of her face, tickling her soft cheeks. Probably disturbing her sleep as well as he could see a soft pout on her face. He was too busy at gazing at the wedding planner until he realized she was laying almost at the edge, one of her legs was already out of the bed.
As if on their own accord his hands moved at her waist, to bring her into a comfortable position. Carefully placing her on the bed, he tried to move only to realize her position. She was laying holding his waist tightly. Her head on his thigh close to his stomach, his kurta held in her feast. Her breath fanning his clothed stomach, creating goosebumps in his flesh.
Shifting her softly on the pillow, he came down of the bed swiftly. Sitting on the sofa he kept his gaze fixed on her face. Almost shocked at the striking similarities between their poses. Her moment as if it was a Deja Vu of a certain sight from a few moments earlier. When he woke up in a similar position in the middle of the night.
He could still feel the peace and calmness he was feeling at that time, laying on her lap, holding her close to himself. He doesn't remember feeling in such a way earlier in his life. Not even when Dadi would pat his back or when Rudra hugs him tight.
It was a kind of peace he heard only in Om's poetic lines and Dadi's tales. What was it, he had no idea. The only thing he knew was he never felt better. He never felt more alive. He felt his heart doing somersaults, just looking at her.
He kept looking at her. For some reason under the softness of the moonlight, her face was looking even more dreamy. He wondered, how would it feel to gaze at her face in this way but with all right each night? How would it feel to wake up each morning like he woke up today? How would he feel if he could hold her close to him, though his life?
His thoughts gave him jitters, happy jitters this time. As if someone injected a high dose of happy hormones in his system, messing with his head. He felt a small smile curving upon his lips on its own. Just with the thought. He felt happy, genuinely happy with the happy thought.
A realization dawning on him. Maybe he has found his special someone, finally as said by Om.
His smiles lit up to its fullest, making his cyan eyes twinkle. It is time, he fixes it all. It is time he makes sure he starts planning his wedding with his wedding planner.
After all, it is she.
He went to him, bending near him he let his fingers graze on her soft skin. It's you, he whispered softly near her ears.
It is time, the king comes at his knee to woo his queen.
