"Look at that guy, Annika--he's so hot!"
Annika frowned at her best friend's words and heart-eyes.
"He's from the rival team, idiot," She rebuked. Their college was playing a nail-biting football final against their no.1 rival college, and yet her best friend, Mallika, was fangirling about the opponent.
"So what?" Mallika asked in return. "Just look at him. His body, his beard, his eyes..."
Still annoyed but slightly curious, Annika looked towards where Mallika was pointing. Clad in the rival team's Red jersey, jersey no.4 with the name 'Oberoi' was actually really handsome, Annika had to admit. He looked a couple of years older than them and had a roguish, slightly arrogant look about him that was attractive. Annika looked away quickly. She did not want to be 'fraternizing with the enemy' in any way. While her friend gushed away about the guy, Annika concentrated on the match. Unfortunately, Jersey no.4 wasn't just all good looks but a great player as well, and almost single-handedly made his team win. Dismal, Annika and her friends lingered in the field for a while as the other team celebrated, chatting amongst themselves. It was when they were about to leave when a friend of Annika's approached her.
"Annika, wait up!" He called out. She turned and gave him a smile.
"What's up, Jai? You were guys were great out there."
"Oh well," He shrugged his shoulders, "We lost anyway. But listen, there's this friend of mine who thinks you're really cute," he winked at her here, "and was asking if it was okay if I gave him your number."
"Friend?" Annika furrowed her brows. Her friends looked on excitedly.
"Yeah," Jai replied. "He's from the other team and--"
"From the rival team?" Annika pursed her lips. "No thanks, I don't fraternize with the enemy."
"Oh come on," Jai laughed, "The games are all in good spirit. And trust me, he's a great guy. You're the first girl he's been interested in, as far as I know."
Annika sighed.
"Fine, give him my number or whatever," She shrugged her shoulders. Jai grinned and was about to leave, when Annika held him back.
"Wait, at least show me which one it is?" She asked, looking curiously towards the other team who were being congratulated by everyone.
"That one," Jai pointed in the general direction of the players, "Jersey no. 4, Oberoi. Shivaay Singh Oberoi."
With that, he made his way towards the locker rooms, leaving behind a blushing Annika and a somewhat heartbroken Mallika--she had noticed him first, after all.
Anyone want to read more of this? I know the ending was very unsatisfactory.
