Skylar
Today is Tuesday, today is the day I told Nate we would go shopping. We have needed to go shopping since we got here but I've postponed it. I didn't want to worry about having to spare money as soon as we got here, but it is needed. Nate and I need to get some necessities.
"Hey sis, how was your day?" Nate asked as he walked in. I only had 2 classes today so i decided to work on homework while waiting for Nate to get back home.
"It was good, by the look on your face you had a good day. What happened?" I replied only looking up for a split second as I finish my essay.
"Some of the football players are having a little party and invited me. It's this Friday can I go?" he asked, even though he is 18, he still asks me. I don't know why, but he always does.
"Ya, you can go, as long as you keep your cell phone on you. I don't want you drinking you are not old enough, I don't care what temptations you have." I reply. I look up slightly, just in time to see him smile. I look back down listening to what he says, but finishing the last little bit of my essay.
"Thank you! I won't, I promise. If it makes you feel better I'll call you every hour." He said sarcastically.
"Haha very funny. Now get ready we need to get to the store. This is the only day that we both have off other than Friday." I tell him as I save and close my laptop. I had to buy a laptop for school when I first got to New York. I got Nate one as well since he is almost done with his senior year it'll make it easier for him to already have one. "ARE YOU READY!?" I shouted at Nate because he disappeared into his room.
"Ya, I'll meet you outside in a minute." He says as I start walking out the door.
We don't live in the best part of town, but it isn't the worst either. As I wait for Nate outside, I see a man standing on the corner. I would usually ignore him but there was something about him that grabbed my attention. His aura was dark but inviting for some strange reason. I recognized him from somewhere, I don't know where though. Right now I can only see his back. He must work out, you can see his muscle as they ripple through his shirt. The way he stands, you can tell he is not afraid of anyone, and dared someone to come up to him. He has jet black hair neatly formed. As I admire this stranger, he turns around and notices me. I look down hoping he didn't see me staring. As I'm looking at the ground I feel someone walk up to me. I look up and it's him.
He has bright green eyes that hold a lot of darkness behind them. He is at least 6'2". You could start to feel intimidated with him standing over you. I shiver with him this close, but I immediately shook off the feeling, and got into my stance to fight him off. He was confused, the he laughed. It was nice, his laugh made me feel warm.
"What's wrong?" He asked me.
"What?" I reply
"What's wrong? People don't just drop into a fighting stance for nothing."
"I don't like men close to me."
"Why?"
"I just don't, now back off!" He didn't. So as a reflex I swung my foot up and made contact with his face.
"Fuck, okay. Chill woman. Nice kick, do you workout?"
"Maybe." I could see him getting frustrated, I laughed.
"That was a nice sound....." I stand there confused "your smile and laugh." He finished before I could say anything else. I saw out of the corner of my eye, Nate.
"Everything okay here?" He asks me.
"Yes, now go away boy." The stranger responds before I could. I was furious that he talked to my brother like that.
"Excuse me?" Nate responded. I could see the fire in his eyes as well.
"LEAVE NOW, BOY!" The man said angrily. Nate wasn't happy. I stepped up to him and calmed him down. Even though I am older he gets protective over me, like I do with him.
"Nate, stop it's okay. We were just talking." I could see a bit of disbelief in his eyes. I've learned to read people, and I am very good at it. "Nate, I promise. We were just talking. LOOK AT ME! I promise, I am ok."
"Okay," he said, breathing to calm down. "Who are you?" He said looking at the man
"I am Ace. I go to college at NYU." He told Nate. I realized that, that's where I knew him from. I share some classes of my business classes with him. I want an undergrad in business. "What about you? I know you are Nate, right? But what about you?" He asked looking at me
"Yes, I am Nate McKnight. I am finishing my senior year. This is my older sister" Nate replied
"I am Skylar McKnight. I am also going to college at NYU." I told him.
"Nice to meet you both. Sorry about my behavior, I'm just used to people sticking their nose in someone else's business." Ace
"It's okay we understand, but we need to get going we have some errands to run. Nice meeting you as well." Nate tells Ace
"Bye, maybe we will meet again." I tell Ace as we walk away.
