I realize I don't know what the fuck I'm doing when I pull up to Maggie's house. I told her I loved her earlier and she completely ignored the situation. But then again she was being really touchy and kept trying to kiss me. What the fuck. I don't even know what's going on between us anymore.
Monty: I'm here.
I text Maggie as I shut my car off and make my way up to her front door. As I'm walking up the stairs I notice all the fall decorations around her doorstep. The pumpkins, the wreath on the door, and the obsessive amounts of lights hanging from the roof. As soon as I step in front of the door it opens. I see Maggie standing in the doorframe wearing a tiny black dress and putting hoops in. "What are you wearing?" She screeches pulling me in the door. "I'm sorry, did I miss something. Like an invite." I say looking back around at her in confusion.
I look around the house trying to notice anything out of the ordinary. And then it hits me. Her dad is back in town. Great. "So, where are you going?" I mumble taking my jacket off and setting it on the back of the couch. "Monty, what are you wearing." She exclaims eyeing my jeans and football t-shirt. "You said we were just talking. How was I supposed to know that meant over dinner with your father." I finally confess feeling uncomfortably underdressed. I watch her as she scrambles around the house looking for God knows what.
"Go in my dad's closet and find something." She yells from the bathroom obviously pissed. I'm confused because this morning she said, come over, we'll talk she said. Yet right now I'm being forced to join her family dinner. And for what exactly. It's not like we're together according to her. I make my way into her father's room and into his massive closet. Instead of doing something else that will piss Maggie off I just decide to go for a plain black shirt and pair of pants. Luckily for her, I have my Louis Vuitton belt handy, so I place that through the loopholes in the pants.
"We have to leave by 8:15," She says eying my new appearance. As I turn around towards the mirror she approaches me. She looks almost taller than me becaus of the shoes she's wearing. "You look good." She whispers before smacking a kiss on my lips. She's not wearing lipstick so we don't have to worry about anything staining. I wrap my arms around her waist pulling her closer to me. "So when are we talking about this morning." I say leaving a kiss her neck between each word. "Can we do it tomorrow, we don't really have time right now." She sighs fixing my collar before pushing off of me.
Sunday 8:39 pm
"Daddy," She calls out as her father gets up from his chair. As she rushes towards him he gets up to hug her. Maggie's dad is absolutely terrifying. I don't care what anyone else says, this man is scary. I've met him before obviously when Maggie and I dated, awful idea. The worst one I've ever had. Her father stands at about 6'5 so not much taller than myself, but he's built like Dwayne Johnson. And he scares me. I'm fucking terrified by this man. "Hey sir how are you?" I say giving him a handshake while approaching the table. "Good." He says sternly as he nods his head towards the seat across from him.
"You remember Montgomery, daddy." Maggie clarifies opening up the menu in front of her. "Monty, you can call me Monty." I add. "So, Montgomery," He replies before looking down at his menu and then back up at me. "How's your season going?" He says as if he's interrogating me. "Good, yeah we're 4-0 right now. The season is looking good." I explain before looking down at the menu in front of me. "Where, you going to school?" He interrogates. When the words slip out of his mouth I look towards Maggie. Who's having a great time on her phone by the looks of it. "I heard Matthew Pack committed to Alabama," He declares. "Right, yeah, maybe UF maybe Alabama I don't really know yet." I mumble looking back down at my menu. The table is quiet for a few minutes before I reach for my phone.
Monty: Why am I here?
Margot: My dad said he wanted you to come to dinner tonight.
Monty: For what? To scare the shit out of me. Lmao.
Margot: No, idk let me ask.
"Daddy, why'd you invite Monty?" She consults as she lays her phone down on the table. My eyes shoot to the side of her face in annoyance. She shoots me back a "what?" kind of face as she shrugs her shoulders. "I wanted to comprehend why you want to get back together with him." He says keeping his eyes glued to the menu in front of him. His words cause me to find Maggie's hand under the table and lace my fingers with hers. "I love you," I whisper in her ear. "Even if you don't love me back right now I love you." I repeat.
