"Montgomery, you're late." Coach shouts as I make my way through the school doors.

"Everyday!" I reply back as I head to my first class.

I walk into the class expecting it to be empty, I mean it is the last day before Christmas break, instead the class is packed. I feel like I've never even seen some of these people before, but whatever. I take my usual seat next to Maggie but she doesn't say anything.

"Hey" I whisper trying not to disrupt the class more than I already have.

"Hi." She replies back before looking back down to her notes.

"Okay, whatever Mags." I say and decide to take notes of my own.

The bell finally rings for lunch and the only thing I can think about is how long this day has been. Normally when I come in with a couple minutes to spare in the first block it goes by fast. Maybe it's cause I'm not high anymore. Fuck.

"Arlin. Just who I was looking for," I say as I make my way over to the lunch table. " Do you have your pen?" I whisper as I look down to him.

He looks up at me and before he says anything he gets out of his seat and walks out of the common area. I follow him all the way into the bathroom.

"Don't get caught, and don't lose my shit." He says before walking back out. I take a few hits before doing the same and walking back into the lunch room.

"Mags, wait up!" I shout as I make my way closer to her. "Sorry about earlier." I say sincerely. She doesn't say anything back, she just keeps walking. "Maggie, hello, earth to Maggie." I say jokingly hoping she'll at least laugh.

"I don't want to do this Monty." She finally says before we reach the locker rooms. I look at her with confusion lining my face. "You're leaving and you're going to do so great in Florida. I don't want you to think that you can't go out and live because you have a girlfriend back home that you are too busy thinking about." She adds.

What. "Wait what?" I ask out loud before she says anything else. "Yesterday you told me that you wanted me, that you wanted a relationship with me, and now you're saying that you don't?" I add and her head immediately drops to the floor.

"I just want you to have the full college experience. I can't help you do that from here." She whispers and I hear her voice hitch between words. "I love you Monty, but you don't need me once you go to college. Trust me you'll have plenty of girls to choose from." She adds and walks into the boys locker room.

I follow her there with the intention of finishing the conversation. At this point I don't care who's in our business. I need her to know that I need her.
