Isabelle's pov
I slowly opened my eyes as the first rays of dawn hit my face. Excited for the tasks I had given myself for a challenging day of work, I slowly got up from my bed and stretched. First, I'm planning on working with a very ill-tempered dragon with lots of potential, the beautiful Cobalt Romanian Ice dragon.
As quietly as I could I put my dragon-riding gear on and tiptoed through the kitchen to grab an apple and some strips of meat from the fridge. I quickly ran outside of the cottage and little village we had, not wanting anyone else to wake up because of me. If so, poor Charlie would have to deal with those ill-tempered men and I'd rather not bother the busy man.
I slowed down to a nice walk when I got near the dragon habitats taking in the sights of the snow flurrying around me and the sound of the new snow crunching underneath my boots. The crisp air filling my lungs and expelling as if it's a gust of smoke coming from a Hungarian Horntail. I finally got to the outskirts of the dragon's village to a sizable crate, calling it a cage is too barbaric for me. I lightly tapped the door hoping that would wake her up and unlatched the lock. "Hey, beautiful girl. Rise and shine! It's time to learn how to fly with a rider on ya!" I said excitedly as she slowly moved to the door stretching and letting a puff of air at my face
I swung the door to let her out. Not having to put chains on her, as we had mutual respect, she walked out of her crate, nudging my hand with her scaly head waiting for me to grab her harness. "At a girl. We'll be working on the field over there if you want to go stretch your wings." I said pointing to the field nearby as I turned back to grab her handmade harness, saddle, and saddle blanket. She took off flying to the field as I turn around to see her flying. It took me a good ten minutes to get to the field and just as I got there, she landed right next to me all warmed up and ready to work. I got her all saddled up and started to train.
As we were training Charlie and the rest of the crew woke up around nine and got ready for their days' work, whether it was training, cleaning, taking inventory, or other mundane things around the village. I look up to the sun to see what time it is, and I didn't even realize it was almost twelve! "Hey girly! We're done training for the day." She responded with almost a huff as I had gotten off her back. She really liked working with me and it warmed my heart. I had gotten her training gear up off the ground and walked back to her grate. She was in there and settling down as I had just got to her crate. Putting everything away and giving her the strips of meat as a treat, I quietly lock her back up and jog to the village.
As I had gotten back to the humble shack some of us called home, I quickly went to the kitchen to see Charlie with a mug of black coffee and the kettle of the water boiling on the stove. "Morin' Charlie!" I said as I got up onto the counter to grab my mug and my hidden jar of peppermint tea, people like to think that anyone can use it when it was a birthday gift from Molly Weasley. "Looks like you've been busy this morning. When did you wake up?" He said sipping his coffee "Oh just before dawn. I was teaching the Cobalt Romanian dragon how to fly with a rider on her back. I was even able to fly without the harness on!" I said smiling, remembering the thrill of it as I poured the hot water into the mug.
He shuddered at the mention of the dragon species. "I'm telling you, Isabelle. You are the only one that can take on a beast like that dragon. Have you been able to get the dragons for the tri-wizard tournament-ready yet?"
"As in picking out the few dragons that won't burn the contestants to a crisp. Then yes, here's the list!" I responded pulling a piece of paper out of my boot and taking a sip of my tea "Thanks for doing that bell. Now go get packed. You have the World Cup next week and after that, you have to go to school, and you won't be back until the week before the first trial." Charlie said in an almost fatherly tone "Okay." Was all I said as I took my mug to my room to pack my things.
You see this year is full of firsts for me. I'm going to the play in the Quidditch World Cup, I'll be going to school at Hogwarts as a member of the Beauxbaton Academy, and I'll be working during the school year. I'm the youngest Keeper in the International Quidditch League. I have to say, just like Viktor Krum, but better. After three full hours of trying to fit all my quidditch gear and school things into one trunk, I was finally finished and ready to leave for Ireland.
I dragged my trunk and my pygmy dragon's crate over to Charlie in the living room. He smiled at me and said, "Ready to be the youngest Quidditch world champion?" I looked up to him and smile as he grabbed my trunk. "You bet your scaly friends I do!" I replied as I held onto his arm, ready to apparated "Well off we go!" He exclaimed before it started to feel like I was being sucked into a small tube. Apparation was an interesting thing to have to use but soon enough we are landing on the practice turf of the Ireland quidditch field.
I turned around to Charlie with a worried look on my face. "Charlie, promise me that you'll tell everyone I'll miss them and keep the dragons in line for me 'kay?" I asked him sincerely "Anything for you Belle." He says lightly ruffling my hair and giving me a big ole' hug before he stepped away and apparated back to the desolate village.
And this was the start of a wondrous adventure that was in store for me this year.
