Nita's City Life

Chapter 4: First Fight

'... And now I have the strength of a bear,' Nita finished. Maia was completely dazed.
'Bad luck... White eyes... Sacrificed to the Spirits of Hollow Woods... Adopted by bears...' Maia muttered. 'Nita, your backstory is crazy!'
'Oh, it gets even crazier,' Leon smirked. 'Can you believe that when I met Nita for the first time, I was about to attack-'
'Hey!' Maia interrupted in a sudden. 'We're at the cafeteria already!'
Surely enough, the trio had been chatting for so long, they had reached their destination without noticing. Not many tables were taken, for it was starting to get dark.
Nita looked around. Suddenly, she saw a familiar face.
'They're here!' Nita shouted as she dragged Leon and Maia to where Jessie and Penny were sitting.
'Hey, Jess! Hi, Penny!' Leon greeted. 'Sorry for being so late.'
The two girls turned around. 'Hey guys!' said Jessie.
Penny was looking at Maia. 'Who is she?' She asked.
'This is Maia, our dorm mate and our friend,' said Nita. 'Maia, they are our friends, Jessie Junker and Penny Haidao.'
'Nice to meet you all,' Maia greeted shyly. She was not used to being with new people. 'I don't think you all came from around here. Can you tell me where you guys came from?'
'Umm......' Jessie and Penny looked at Nita and Leon. They must keep Brawl Town a secret no matter what.
'I'm the daughter of a pirate,' Penny shrugged, for she really had no idea about where she was born. 'But I started to live in Jursa about 2 months ago.'
'We are from Brazil,' Nita and Leon answered at the same time.
'How about you, Jessie?' Maia asked, her eyes filled with curiosity.
  'Trista,' Jessie replied as she looked through a giant atlas to find some reference. 'As for my birth place, I'm pretty sure it was at-'
Suddenly, a rock came flying out of nowhere and crashed onto Maia's back.
  'Ouch!' Maia shouted in pain as she tumbled forwards and crashed into the table. Some kids snickered from the distance. No one heard them except for Nita.
  'Who in the world did that?!' Nita howled angrily as her eyes darted from side to side. She was trying her best to catch the culprit.
Suddenly, another rock came flying towards Nita's head.
'Nita! Look out!' Leon, Jessie and Penny screamed.
Nita turned around and rapidly grabbed the rock out of the air. With one deadly grip, she cracked the rock and reduced it to dust.
  'Whoever did that was a total amateur,' Nita growled. 'Do they really think that rocks will hurt me?!'
Nita's shouts had angered the bullies.
'Hey, boss. That girl's super strong,' One of the boys murmured whilst pointing at Nita from a distance. 'Do we really want to continue?'
'Of course we'll continue!' The leader growled. 'We have to make those dummies regret for befriending the Creep! Get your baseball bats and slingshots ready!'
Leon had heard all of this, for he had silently crept up behind the bullies. He ran back to the group quickly but quietly.
'Leon!' Maia gasped as she saw Leon come back as soon as he had gone. 'Where did you go? One second you ran off, and now-'
'Sorry, Maia, but there's no time to explain!' Leon quickly murmured as he gestured at the dark figures who were making their way to the team's table. 'Nita, they just said that they're going to use baseball bats and slingshots!'
  'Nita,' said Jessie. 'Do you want me to construct Scrappy? I used something else to fill up his empty bullet storage-'
'That's not needed, Jess,' Nita growled as she pulled Leon next to her. 'I don't want you two to get involved. Leon and I will take care of them.'
'We will?' Leon asked, surprised.
Nita glared at him.
'We will,' Leon murmured quietly.
  Nita and Leon walked towards the bullies. Just as Leon had heard, the bullies were carrying baseball bats and slingshots.
  'Get out of our way!' One of the boys shouted. Then, he snarled. 'Or do you want us to make you two move?'
  Leon gulped in fear, but Nita didn't flinch at all.
  'Don't you dare think you can bully people just because you have weapons,' she growled. 'And you shouldn't bully those who are different! None of you are considerate at all!'
  'Silence!' The leader shouted as he approached Nita with a giant baseball bat. 'Do you want us to whack you into the sky?!'
  'No, but I'll get your baseball bat and "konichi-whack" you to hell,' Nita snickered as she made a joke using Bibi's line.
  The bullies were stunned because they didn't understand Nita's joke. This gave her the chance to pounce onto one of the boys.
  'Hey! Get off me!' The boy growled as he tried to use his bat on Nita.
  'Hah!' Nita laughed as she grabbed one end of the bat and ripped it out of the boy's grasp with ease. 'Don't underestimate me!'
  The boys with slingshots started firing rocks at Nita, but Nita was faster. She deflected the rocks again and again using the bat. She looked like a deadly ballerina who's ready to kill those who came too close to her.
  Suddenly, Nita heard someone shout.
  'OUCH!!!'
  'Leon!' Nita shouted as she ran over to her brother, whom she had forgotten because she was too busy defending herself. She dropped her bat onto the floor. 'Oh, I'm so sorry, brother!'
  'It was the leader...' Leon muttered breathlessly as he pointed at the savage boy. The leader had slinged a rock at Leon's forehead, causing him to bleed.
  'HOW DARE YOU HURT MY BROTHER!!!' Nita howled loudly as she charged towards the leader, unarmed.
  The leader snickered. 'You made two mistakes,' he murmured. 'First, you forgot about your brother. And now, you had forgotten about your weapon!'
  He charged towards Nita, his giant baseball bat ready in his grasp. He made a giant swing and heard a crash.
  'Bye bye,'  The leader laughed, but that was before he noticed a weird force that was pushing against his bat.
  'Hi-ya!' Nita screamed as she pushed the bat with all of her strength, which caused the leader to tumble backwards and crash into the other boys.
  'How... How are you so strong?' The leader mumbled as he and the other bullies got up shakily.
  'I'll tell you one simple reason that is truer than true,' Nita smirked. 'I have been raised by bears.'
  With the mixed expressions of fear and anger, the bullies ran away, and silence returned to the cafeteria.
