The Story of Ericka Gilbert

Chapter 8

I woke up to a loud slap. I looked around me and saw Elena on the floor surrounded by vampires. I was still in my pageant clothes as was Elena. They noticed I was awake and turned to me. I ran to the window and grabbed one of the sheets covering it. I was snatched by the male vampire who tried to compel me to behave. I dug my fingers in his eyes trying to force him to let go and it worked. The female grabbed me and I began to panic making my magic react. My magic exploded sending everyone everywhere. I grabbed the Elena and headed for the door.  We made it upstairs just to meet a vampire in a suit. He froze looking at us and we froze looking at him.  I heard a SWOOSH sound downstairs breaking the staring contest and waved my hand shooting the suited vampire across the room. We raced to the front door. The vampires from downstairs were in front of us in a flash. They flung us back before we could even open the door. They roughly grabbed us up off the floor. My dress was trapping me and every time Trevor attempted to get a better hold I fought back. The suited vampire simply moved Trevor away when he saw the bruises forming on my arms from Trevor grabbing hold too tight. 

"You're hurting her. The doppelganger is being grabbed too tightly as well. While their captivity is necessary, they are still young women who need to be handled with care." he said 

The suited vampire carried me while Elena was dragged by the female vampire.  We were back where we started. I was set gently on the couch and covered in his suit jacket. Elena was dropped on the couch and told to "stay". I was now nervous. We were viciously out numbered and surrounded by vampires and the closest thing I had to back-up was Elena. The woman sat next to me, and I scooted closer to Elena.

"My name is Rose. This is my friend Trevor and the one in a suit is Elijah. You are a witch I'm assuming so you understand that you are currently surrounded by vampires. I would suggest you not try anything or we will be forced to knock you out again." Rose said calmly

"What do you know of doppelgangers?" Elijah asked 

"They are the double of a living person." I said 

Trevor chuckled" I have a feeling your sister is hiding a few things from you."

I glanced over and sure enough Elena was looking guilty. 

"Your sister Elena is a doppelganger that is crucial to a ritual called the Sun and the Moon. Your sister is the doppelganger of a vampire currently known as Katherine Pierce." Rose said 

I did NOT like where this was going.

"The ritual requires three sacrifices. A werewolf... A vampire... And a doppelganger."

We heard noises upstairs. 

"I thought you said we are alone."Elijah said 

"We should be." Rose said 

When we all got upstairs, we heard running around. 

"Up here."

Down here." 
We turned when we heard a snap. Rose and Trevor's necks were snapped and Elena was missing. Elijah pulled me close. I didn't know what was going on.
" For those who are here, you are out of your depth. Return the girl and all will be forgotten." Elijah said
Elijah was distracted by Atlanta coming up to him, and I was grabbed. I looked up and it was staying. He looked angry and bloodthirsty with his demonic red eyes. Before I knew it Damon race off and staked Elijah. Damon came back and looked me over.
" We need to find you another wish to train under." Damon said
I just nodded and then passed out. I woke up at the Salvatore house. I can hear arguing.
"You have to tell her Elena. She deserves to meet her mother herself. You're talking about wanting her to trust you. I doubt she'll just take her word for something like this." Stefan argued
Funny the one time he's ever thought of me is the one time him and Elena completely disagree.
" No. Our birth mom is a monster. It's too dangerous." Elena argued back
"Was Ericka close to Miranda?"
"No. Mom and her were estranged at best. Mom and I were close where Dad and Ericka were close. Ericka will be alright with John being our father. She'll be devastated if she finds out our birth mother wants nothing to do with us."
I was in complete disbelief. Elena, who had an amazing relationship with both adopted parents, did not want to even give me the chance to meet my birth mom. I still believe that Stefan and Damon are dangerous but I still hung out with Damon.
"How dare  she decide for me that I don't need to meet my mom?!" I thought
I ran out and I could hear them yelling after me. I went to the waterfalls. It was the first time I had been there since I had activated my powers. It was like the earth was singing to me. I pitied Bonnie and Sheila and all the other nature witches. They could sense nature on such a small scale such as power, too much can kill them. For me, this feeling was like going home after a long time. It was comforting and loving. It was like being surrounded by love and happiness, something I so desperately wanted. Vicki must have just got back in town because she found me just hours later.  Vicki has been travelling and following different fashion trends. She likes mixing different thrift shop clothes together to create new stuff, upcycling clothes.
"You know Elena is in there trying to convince Damon that it is still a good idea to ignore the whole bio parent thing." Vicki said
"You know Elena has and had it all. Our parents were doted on her. Her friends are die hard loyal. The Earth has been talking to me. My mom is a vamp. Caroline's been turned. There is someone named Katherine here who wants meet me too. I'm waiting to meet my mom. I'm excited to have John as my dad. Based off Elena it wouldn't shock me if mom has her emotions cut off."
Vicki just stood there and let me rant. She understood me so well.
"You know what kills me? She has a death sentence over her head. If I was in the same position, I would want to be able to say that I tried my best to meet my parents, to get to know them. She acts so high and mighty on her white horse as she quickly condemns everyone around her. She's never liked John. Katherine is a survivor. Damon has a past. Jeremy wants to fight and live. If she really cared about Damon she wouldn't want to change him like he's some doll. Jeremy is growing up why not let him. Vampires have to live. Katherine is running from someone. Who's to say whoever she's running from won't follow her right here? I'm tired of her hiding stuff from me but then I'm expected to help save her."
Vicki just hugged me as I managed to get just everything off my chest. I wanted a mom just like Elena had. Why was she trying to deny me of that? Vicki led me home to the Gilbert house. Elena was sitting on the porch swing waiting for me. Vicki went ahead and left, wanting to see her brother.
"Ericka-"
"You had no right to hide all this from me."
"There is so much going on that, to be hones, to tell you never even crossed my mind."
"Oh but it crossed your mind to let your Scooby gang know. Jeremy knows."
"Jeremy only knows because we found out that Tyler was a werewolf then Mason came in town."
"Wait Mason, what about Mason?"
"Apparently he is friends with Katherine. He is also a werewolf. Damon is supposed to be interrogating him now."
" no no no no... where is Damon now?!"
"He's at the manor. Ericka, he's with Katherine. He's the bad guy."
"So was Damon!"
I ran to my car racing towards the Salvatore manor. When I got there Jeremy was on the porch.
"Ericka!" Jeremy called to me as I raced passed him
Damon was about to put his hand through Mason's chest.
"Damon, stop!" I screamed
"He's-"
"Elena told me."
"He's the enemy."
"So were you not so long ago. I saw something good in you. I still do. You're my brother in every way that matters. You used to trust me then. I am begging you to trust me now."
Damon was hesitating.
"Mason is Lucas' uncle. Mason used to take Tyler and me trick or treating every year. I know he hated it, but he did it anyway. He did it to keep us safe. No one messed with us when Mason was around. Mason is a little rough around the corner but I care about him. Katherine tricked him just like she did you. Do NOT let Katherine be the reason you become the thing that you no longer want to be."
Damon slowly let Mason go. I quickly ran to him and pulled him out the door. I was going to use the half moon to heal him. Mason was dying from blood lost. I gently laid him in the moonlight.
"Mother Gaia hear my prayer help me heal my friend. Help me heal this cursed child of the moon."
My aura turned green and Mason's sickly looking yellow. Slowly the yellow began to brighten. I felt like I was burning but in a good way and I began to lose myself in the magic.
3rd POV
Damon watched as Ericka slowly but truly lost herself to her magic. Blood was beginning to run down her face.
"Ericka, stop. Ericka, stop before you kill yourself." Damon shouted going to her and began shaking her
"He's healed Ericka stop." Jeremy shouted
Finally Ericka opened her eyes before fainting. Damon fed her some of his blood . Jeremy got Mason up.
"Will she be ok?" Mason asked
"She better be." Jeremy muttered
Damon carried Ericka inside to rest off the power overload.
