A tail of a hero

CHAPTER SIX (the letters from UA)

It was one week after the exam. I was sitting on the couch, watching Sword Art Online on an anime site, Akio was in his room doing who knows what, and Mom was cleaning off the table from dinner we just finished.

"honey? The letter is coming today right?" she asked glancing over at me.

"yeah... it was supposed to be here yesterday but since it didn't come it should be here today." I told her. she turned back and put all the dishes in the sink.

"ah, alright." She replied. I turned back to watch my show as Kirito saved Leafa from the red fairy guys. "oh. Aiya, that's the mail. Can you go get it for me?" I heard mom say.

"yeah..." I paused the show and got up to get the mail. "the letter... what if it doesn't come? Would that mean I failed?" I thought as I walked to the door. After I got the mail, I was too nerves to look if there was a letter. "here Mom." I said as I handed her the mail. She grabbed it and flipped through it, looking for something. Her hand stopped as she found it.

"A-Aiya! Akio!" she cried. My brother appeared immediately.

"what is it mom?" he asked. he saw she was holding the mail. I stared at her, waiting for her to show us what it was. Her hand raised with two letters with "U.A. High School" written on them.

A little while later, I was in my room, on my bed. I knew I only got one point, so I hesitated to open my letter. I was so scared it would tell me I failed. I had to know though! Carefully opening the envelope I reached in,

"ow!" I yanked my hand back as I touched something cold and hard. "what was that?" I said to myself as I peeked inside. There was a round metal thing, I dumped out the contents of the envelope. The metal round thing fell on my bed, rolled, and landed with a thud on the floor. A bright light appeared from the thing as it started to hum. Suddenly a familiar smiling face appeared in the light, it was like a projector.

"THIS IS A PROJECTION!!" All Might said.

"WHAAAHH?!" I said in confusion.

"YES! IT IS ME! ALL MIGHT!"

"wait! What?!" I said in amazement.

"now! You passed the written portion of the U.A. exam, but you only got one points on the practical... sadly, you failed in that part." I stared. feeling tears starting to come to my eyes.

"no..." I whispered. "I... failed..."

"BUT WAIT!! WATCH THIS WON'T YOU!!" he pressed a button on a remote and a tv behind him flipped on. It went to an office room. There was a knock and the door opened. It was the girl I had saved, and Tetsutetsu!

"umm, hello." The girl said, as she looked at the floor, shuffling her feet. Present Mic walked into view.

"there was a girl with long hair and fox like ears and tail." Tetsutetsu chimed in. I blinked as I realized he meant me. Present Mic nodded. "I want to give her some of my points!"

"mine too." The shy bird girl said. "she saved me when I was getting buried by rocks. I heard she only got one point. Please let me help her like she helped me!" she cried.

"She helped me when a robot got the better hand on me. I want to repay her." Tetsutetsu said. The screen stopped and All Might turned to me.

"they came after the exam to see us. to be honest, you surprised me. YOU SEE... WE WEREN'T JUST WATCHING FOR VILLAINBASED POINTS!! IF WE REJECTED ALL THE ONES WHO DO THE RIGHT THINGS.... THEN THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY TRUE HEROS NOW WOULD THERE?! HAHAHA! IF YOU'RE REALLY DOING ALL OF THIS FOR THE CAMERAS OR MONEY THEN THAT'S YOU, BUT IF YOU'RE A TRUE HERO, YOU HELP THE ONES THAT NEED SAVING!! IN THIS JOB, YOU RISK YOUR LIFE ALL THE TIME AND PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS!! YOU SEE, RESCUE POINTS WERE ALSO COUNTED HERE!! ANOTHER FUNDAMENTAL WAY FOR U.A. TO EVALUATE YOU!! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE FIFTYNINE POINTS!! AND FOR MR. TETSUTETSU, FIFTYFIVE! AND FOR MISS FUKURO, FORTYFIVE!! CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN! YOU MADE IT TO YOUR HERO ACADEMY!!" the projector thing turned off. I didn't know what to do. I felt so happy, and surprised. Staring at where All Might had been, I tried to stop the tears falling from my eyes. I got up from the floor.

"I MADE IT!!" I screamed. I ran out of my room and gave my mom a big hug. She was crying from joy.

"I'm so proud of you!" she said. I let her go and looked around.

"where is Akio?" I asked, a big smile still on my face. She turned in the direction of his room. A worried expression on her face. Walking to his door I knocked on it. "Akio?" silence. "Akio, I'm coming in." nothing. I opened the door. His room was dark and depressing. As my eyes adjusted to the dark, I Looked around to find him in the room. There was a mountain of blankets on the bed that was shaking slightly. There was an envelope, a piece of paper and a round metal projector in front of the blankets.

"I failed, Aiya." He sniffed. The blankets he had wrapped himself in to started shaking harder, as he cried softly. I didn't know what to say so I wrapped my arms around his blanket body in a hug.

"its ok." I told him. after a moment, I let go. "hey, lets go to the beach. We can bring Kaida." He nodded and got out of his blankets.

When we all got to the beach we walked to the new and improved one that the green haired boy cleaned. There was a bridge thing. Akio stayed on the beach a little way away as me and Kaida ran to the bridge, looking at the ocean.

"Aiya, what time is it?" Kaida asked. I looked at my phone's clock.

"8 p.m." I told her.

"ALL MIGHT!!" someone cried from behind us. Me and Kaida turned to see.

"WHOS THAT?!" another voice said quickly.

"All Might?! No way?! Where?!" Kaida cried as she looked around.

"JUST MY EYES PLAYING TRICKS ON ME!" the first voice answered. He sounded familiar for some reason.

"aww..." Kaida said sadly. She looked over at Akio. "is he ok?" she asked me. I sighed.

"I think so." I told her. a concerned expression on my face. She looked at me.

"what does that mean?" she said in a confused tone.

"we got our letters today." I explained.

"oh..." She said. "and...?"

"well... I got in!" I told her in a fake cheerful voice.

"I don't get it." She told me as she tilted her head. I sighed and looked out at the ocean again.

"I got in but... he didn't." I told her. she was silent. She turned to look at the beach as I looked at the ocean.

"whoa. Huh... ALL MIGHT?! Where'd he come from?!" Kaida exclaimed. I turned to see two dark figures, one looked like All Might the other looked like a young boy. They started running away.

"huh." I said. "that was weird." I told her. she looked over at me and nodded.

"yeah." She agreed.
