      This is a request from @EquineLilly !
(y/n) and Newt are separated during a thunderstorm, but reunite in an abandoned mall.

"I'll find you again, (y/n)," Newt yells, as lightning strikes not even 10 feet away from him. The wind and rain seem to almost knock him over a handful of times. Trees are falling everywhere. Everytime we try to reach each other, something gets in the middle. "Don't give in," he yells, desperately.

Don't give in.

It's been 72 hours since I was last with Newt. 72 hours of being alone in this virus infested world. 72 hours or barely surviving.

Don't give in.

Are the words that are keeping me going. The only thing that has stopped me from just laying down on the ground and letting the cranks get me. I'm doing this for Newt. I'm going to keep going for Newt.

I stop walking, sliding my beat-up backpack off of my shoulders. I unzip it, holing it upside down and shaking it. Only crumbs and dirt fall. I sigh, melting to the ground. I'm so hungry, I think.

That's when something catches my eye. I notice a large building in the distance. Probably about a 10 minute walk from here. Cranks are sure to be lurking in there. Yet, there could be a chance of finding food.
With my mind made up, I start towards it. I notice the sun beginning to rise, calming my nerves a tad. Daylight isn't as scary. Finally reaching the main entrance of the building, I look up. Louisiana Mall, it reads. Taking the rusted door handle in my hand, I yank it open with a strong pull. The inside looks well abandoned. Names of stores letters fallen onto the ground. Deteriorating walls and floor. Nobody's been in here for a long time. I take a step into the building, hearing the loud creek it echos out. That was a Crank magnet. My focus is brought back when I hear a similar sounding creek nearby. Only, this one is louder. Heavier.

"Who's there?" I call out, authority lacing my voice. I scan the room intently, slowly backing up. I then feel myself getting grabbed from behind and pulled around a corner. I try to let out a scream, but my mouth is covered before I can. The person pins me to the wall, their hand still over my mouth. I began struggling until my blurry vision focuses on who it is.

"Newt?" I wisper, tears pricking at my eyes. My mouth was still covered, so it came out muffled. He nods, as a large smile is prominent on his face. His eyes have a glossy glaze over them. He then brings his mouth close to my ear.

"You have to be quiet. This place is filled with cranks. We need to slowly make our way out of here."

I nod, as he slowly takes his hand away from my mouth. I take his large hand in my small one as we begin to quietly make our way out. It was going smoothly until I stepped on a floor board that creaked loudly. Very loud. We both took in a sharp breath simultaneously, and realised it once we heard nothing.

"I think we're good-"

Newt was cut off by screams. We turn our heads to see half a dozen cranks running towards us. Newt yanks my hand, as I was frozen in fear. He drags me around a corner as we can now see the door in our view. We run towards it as fast as possible. We almost made it until a crank swipes at me. I scream, and I watch it as it almost makes contact with my skin. Newt pulls me onto his back at the last second, and gives me a piggy back to the rest of the way. We burst out of the door and continue running until we are far enough away from the mall where the cranks give up. We collapse onto the grass, panting heavily.

"You saved me, Newt," I turn my head to look at him. "Twice."

He smiles, fixing up my hair which I'm sure looked horrendous. "Of course I saved you," he stares into my eyes. He pauses for a long time, before sighing softly, "I love you, (y/n)."

I am slightly taken back, but recover quickly once I see him studying my face for a reaction. "Newt," I whsiper out, staring him in the eyes. "I love you too."

A look of relief takes over his face and he smiles and cups my face with both of his hands, "Come here." he grins cheekily, pulling me in for a passionate kiss. I melt into it, as I run my fingers through his hair. We begin making out for what seems like hours. We pull apart, panting and out of breath. "I'm so glad I found you, and that now, you're all mine. I'm never letting you go again."

And I'm so glad I never gave in.
