Unexpected Fiance

Chapter 4

Lots of thoughts swamped in my head, but none I was able to put in a coherent way. "Are you nuts?" I voiced my first thought in utter shock.

He waited for a few seconds for me. May be he was expecting me to continue, But still I was in a daze to make any sane conversation.

"I said Let's get engaged" he repeated his sentence.

"Yes..Yes.. I heard that.. But..Why???" I questioned.

"Hmm...Oh.." he waited for a second and raised an eyebrow and seriously asked me, "So..You want to get married directly?"

With a jerk I stood from the chair. There is a limit to arrogance, he is really hell bent on testing my patience. "I don't think I can talk to a person like you!" I spit the words out and turned back to leave the place.

"Wait.. If not today, we have to talk about it someday. If you and me don't talk about it , the elders will take the matter in their hands. Then we will not have any say in their decisions. Even if we want to change that, it will be one messy thing to do ,Is that what you want?" he explained.

I scrunch my eyebrows and look at him steadily. "The solution you have come up for this matter is getting engaged, Correct?" I asked.

"hmm.." he nodded.

"I think I have a better solution. My parents gave me freedom to choose what I want to do in my life. If I really do not want to go through with this arrangement, I can tell them and my parents will never force me to do. So you don't need to worry, I will ask them to reject this alliance." I poured without a stop.

"How naive you are. If you reject a royal, do you really not understand the consequences?" was his quirky reply.

"Ok fine, no problem. You can reject me. It doesn't matter to me" I replied coolly.

With a smirk, he leaned forward in the chair,"But I don't want to."

"Why?" I was surprised.

"Why..Why?" he replied.

Hiding my frustration, "I asked why wont u reject me?"

"Why should I reject u?" he replied.

I looked at him keenly, there is no trace of any emotions on his face except a little smirk like smile. I walked towards him keeping an arms distance and mockingly teased him,"Have you fallen for me?"

His smirk smile widened into a big smile, showing few of his white shapely teeth. Without reacting to my question he simply got up from the chair and closed the distance between as leaving only a few inches. He bent his head inched his face facing towards my face and looked into my eyes ,"Hmm..Yes."he whispered.

I looked at him blankly for a whole minute. I felt as if I was put inside a closed box. His nearness along with his musky smile, filled my entire nose. I felt like I was having a claustrophobic effect. To steady myself I took many steps behind holding the table to balance. The whole time his eyes didn't leave me at all. I can feel his gaze following my every movement. I felt like a prey in front of a hooded snake. With a jerk I looked at him, his eyes still on me. At that moment, he reminded me off snake which is stealthily and patiently waiting to capture the prey. Though I want to run away from the place as far as possible, my body and mind were not helping it either. I felt as if I was being mesmerized by his gaze. I felt a chill run into my nerves. He is a danger to me. My instinct was warning me.
