I woke up with the warmth of the sun shining on my face. The air was fresh and crisp, but not enough to be chilly. That was my favorite type of weather. I noticed we had stopped and I could hear Daniel and Stephen talking to each other.

"This will do for now Daniel." Stephen said. "It's the most secluded place."

I slowly got up, my leg throbbing terribly and my head pounding. But my excitement was overwhelming to the point I wasn't paying attention to the pain. My rustling noises attracted Stephen and Daniel's attention and they made their way to me.

Stephen had a sense of pride in himself. "Good morning, mistress. You slept well." he said, glancing and smirking at Daniel who also had the same grin on his face.

I looked at them both curiously. "What are you really meaning to say?"

They both chuckled. "Your dreams are highly vivid, love." Stephen answered almost chuckling to himself. "Now, do facial scars really make a "guy sexy"?"

I blushed. "Oh shut up." I pouted as I slowly got out of the carriage. Yes, I do sometimes talk in my sleep, something Jay has mentioned time and time again.

I took a look around. We were, what looked like, the edge of the forest that overlooked a valley. There was a small cottage that looked unused.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"My uncle's cabin." Daniel said. "He left this world from disease and left this cabin to no one."

I was relieved there was a semi-permanent place for us to stay instead of camping out in the carriage. But I held my somewhat excitement in, not to offend poor Daniel.

"I'm sorry to hear that." I expressed. "We'll be sure to put your uncles cabin to good use now that we're here."

I found myself planning too much into the future that I had to stop myself and put that barrier up. Am I really excited about completely leaving my life in 2019 and starting a new one here? Was Stephen Bonnet someone to be trusted?

Stephen took my arm and put it around his waste. He helped me up to the cabin, suddenly grabbing me in his arms and walking through the doorway.

"What are you doing?" I asked him awkwardly. I was flattered, don't get me wrong. But I didn't want to show him that.

"I thought you might needed help getting into the cabin love." he smirked mischievously. I tried to hide a giggle as he placed me down.

The cabin itself wasn't really in rough shape. It needed a couple things, of course, and a major deep clean, but I found it super cozy. I was already picturing in my head where things should be placed and what we needed.

"Now, since you're leg is not in any sorts to do any work, you m'lady, are to tell us what needs to be done." Stephen said. He was hitting every single fantasy in my head right now.

"Well, a nice clean up would do before anything." I said. "What are you going to do for money?"

Stephen and Daniel both smirked. "What we always do, love."

It was kind of a stupid question to ask really. They were thieves so what else would they do.

"That's quite dangerous, isn't it?" I said with concern.

"It is. That is why we prefer the seas, love." Stephen said. "Lesser chance of catching us."

That made sense. Hopefully if I do decide to stay here permanently, I would get used to this way of life they were living. For now, I still had no clue.

The day went on. Stephen and Daniel fixed the place up as best they could. They found a pot to put over the wood fireplace for cooking dinner, they built a small table just enough for the three of us. Daniel made a cot for himself, while Stephen made himself cozy with a blanket and hay for a pillow at the foot of the bed.

I couldn't get to sleep right away so I lay there just staring at the ceiling, thinking about the events that have happened.

"If you don't shut your eyes love, you'll never get the rest you need." Stephen whispered. I was surprised he was still awake.

I turned over to face him and chose my words as simple and as direct as possible. "Why did you save me Stephen?"

He paused for what felt like an eternity before answering. "I have an obsession with unique objects." he said. "When I first laid eyes on you, I had that urge to make you mine."

His wording could have been a lot better, but I understood what he was trying to say. I sat up, and he did the same.

"From what I've read in history books, people like you aren't as compassionate to people they've taken for themselves." I hesitated to say, but to me it was a necessary topic to discuss. I needed to know his motive.

He nodded in agreement with me. "Ay, you're not wrong with that, love." He stood up and sat on the foot of the bed. "I, myself, don't understand my feelings for ye." He inched his way closer to me, brushing the hair off my face. "All I can tell you right now is I don't want to see you hurt and I don't want you to leave me."

He then kissed my lips ever so gently, almost hesitantly. I was taken aback, but I didn't want him to stop. I kissed him in return for a moment before pulling back. He looked a bit dissatisfied.

"I'm sorry." I said, unable to look him in the eye. "I just don't want to feel complicated with my feelings for you."

He caressed my cheek as he looked deep into my eyes. "I completely understand what yer telling me love." he kissed me on my cheek. "We have all the time in the world to understand each other better."
