Chapter Nineteen
I stare at the note, instantly fear paralyzes me. Cautiously, I look around the room, for any sign of anyone. I tiptoe to my closet and quickly peek in.
No one.
How could anyone have gotten up here? We have a gate and guard and everything.
That's when it dawns on me, it's someone in this house who is out for me. My face pales, as I sink into my plush bed.
"Knock, knock."
The voice scares me so much I jump from the bed.
"Easy there, tiger," Harrison walks into the room, looking slightly worried.
"Sorry, you scared me," I try to smile, but it looks more like a grimace.
"Hey now, I'm sorry about everything that happened before you left. I wish I had a good explanation for my behavior but I don't, other than I was under a lot of stress at the time," he steps forward, "I promise that I'll be better." He holds open his arms, instinctively I walk into them.
He wraps his arms around me and holds me close. "See, just like old times. Now go get ready for bed, I'll stay with you until you fall asleep."
I step back and smile. This is nice, but he's no Mac.
Maybe I just need to forget about Mac.
No, my mind fights with me.
Yes, I argue back.
No, you love him. He's different.
He left me, by myself.
Everyone has their faults. He was probably just trying to protect you.
No, he was getting rid of me. He doesn't want me.
I tune out my contradicting mind before it says anymore. Plus, I have the old Harrison back, why change now, everything is back to how it should've been. How it used to be.

"Are you sure this isn't too soon for you?" Harrison asks before I leave for school.
"No, I'll be okay. I need to start getting back to normality. Sooner the better." I say.
He smiles at me. I give him a kiss on the cheek before heading out to my car.
The drive to school was quick. I pull into my usual parking spot with ease.
Stepping out of my car, the entire parking lot turns to stare at me. The wonder girl who miraculously survived being shot.
Yeah, they all heard about it. Lucky me.
Quickly, I walk up to the building. The whispers around me are deafening.
Upon entering the building, I run into the girls.
"Omg Peyton! You're back!"
"Hey, girls, yeah I'm back." I turn to face them.
"We've missed you so so much!" Tabitha squeals.
"I've missed you guys, too. But, hey, I'm going to be late to English, so how about we all go shopping this weekend and catch up? Sound good?"
They all nod in agreement.
"Great! See you then!"
I turn on my heel and walk to English. Taking my usual seat at the front, I get out all my books and binders.
The students soon begin to fill in the classroom. That's when I see him.
Mac.
Our eyes lock. Neither of us dare make a move or sound. But my mind betrays me. My eyes beg him, plead him to come over and say something, anything.
Mac breaks the trance first and shakes his head. Then heads over to the seat farthest away from me.
It felt as though my heart had been pierced by an arrow. I brace myself, for this is the new normal now.

Hey guys! Here's another update, woo! And in such a short period, too.
Thank you all to those who are still reading this. I love you guys!
Alex Pettyfer portrays Mac, and his picture is at the top.
Sorry for such a short authors note, this entire chapter got deleted right as soon as I finished it, so I had to rewrite it again, which sucked. But anyways thanks for reading.
Stay classy. Xoxo
