Short but wholesome
___
You and Dean had been dating for a while now. You had been hunting with the boys for much longer. Sometimes hunts went better than others. This one was hard. There were kids involved. You guys saved some, but not all of them. That made cases hard. No amount of research or ass beatings was worse than kids.Sam was sitting in the backseat, Dean was driving. You were slumped down in the front seat beside Dean, your leg touching Dean's. The car ride was silent, aside from the engine and the music playing through the speakers. You never convinced Dean to get a radio that has an AUX cord, so you had to run cassette tapes to listen to your music in the car. A small smile cracked on your face as the song changed.
"Hey Jude, don't make it bad"
You sang the next set of lyrics. Dean looked down to see you, a smile spreading across his face. He turned his eyes back to the road singing along with you.
"Hey Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her"
You heard a small laugh come from Sam. Dean let his hand fall around you. You heard the backseats shift.
"And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain. don't carry the world upon your shoulder"
Sam sang along with you and Dean. Your voiced blended together. It wasn't necessarily a beautiful sound, but it helped all of you smile. It helped all of you find a lightheartedness in the heartbreaking situation. It made all of you remember the family you all built together. I reminded you that as long as you had Sam and Dean, things would be okay.
"Hey Jude, don't let me down. You have found her, now go and get her,"
You sang, letting your head fall back, and the lyrics fall from your lips. You heard words stutter from Sam as he let out small bits of laughter.
"Better, better, better, better, Ah!"
Laughter filled the car as both boys forced their voices higher. You looked around in the car as the boys sang out words, yelling out others. You couldn't help the smile that formed around your lips. Things would be okay. You, Sam, and Dean against the world.
