March 5, 2014You hadn't told anyone yet. Though you had been to the doctor and gotten your first ultrasound, you wanted to wait until you both knew the baby was going to be fine. You and Dean were planning to tell everyone over a special dinner. It would be a celebration for your mother's birthday, but you guys would invite Sam and Jessica. Your mom loved Sam and Jessica with her whole heart, so you knew it wouldn't be an issue. Dean found the perfect way to tell your mom, and by default, tell everyone else. With Dean slaving over the kitchen for the day, the food was ready.
With a swift knock on the door, you walked to answer it. You swung the door open, your eyes immediately laying on your mom's face. "Happy birthday, Mom!" You said, wrapping your arms around her. "Thank you, sweetie!" She said back happily. You looked over her shoulder, seeing Sam's car roll into the driveway. "Perfect timing," your mom said, her body turning to see the other couple getting out from the car. "He's always on time, it's very," you paused to think for the word. "He's very punctual," you finished instead with a laugh. "That's because the court will not wait for him," Dean chimed in. He had taken a march towards the door. He quickly wrapped his arms around your mother.
"Please, go make yourself comfortable," Dean said to your mom. She nodded. "I sure will, Dean!" She chirped and disappeared towards the kitchen. Sam walked up, waving his hand at the two of you standing by the door. "Look what the cat dragged in!" Dean said, pulling Sam in for a hug. After Dean pulled away, Sam wrapped his arms around you, Jessica following in suit. "Awe man, no hug for me?" Dean asked, faking hurt in his voice. "I could never forget my second favorite Winchester, following closely behind Y/N," Jess said, wrapped her arms around Dean. "No offense, babe," Jess said with a laugh, climbing to her tiptoes to plant a kiss on Sam's lips.
With some laughter and some more banter, you eventually made it to the kitchen. Plates were filled, as well as stomachs. "Time for the birthday girl to get a gift," you said with a smile printed across your cheeks. "Aw, you shouldn't have, honey," your mom said. "Too late," you said in a singsongy voice. You gave her the small gift-wrapped box.
Your mother, the careful woman she was, pulled the wrapping paper gently. Dean offered her some scissors to cut the tape from the box. You sat in your chair, your leg bouncing anxiously. Dean moved his hand to fall over yours with a gentle squeeze. "What is this?" Your mom said, her voice laced with confusion. She lifted the ultrasound image. "Read the back, mom," you said, your voice giving out. Jessica gasped, and your mom's face lit up.
Happy Birthday, Grandma!
"I'm pregnant," you say, letting out a quick breath. "Well congratulations, you guys!" Jessica said, bouncing in her seat. Your mom got up from her chair. "I'm gonna beat you up for putting me on the spot," your mom said. Her voice was wavering. "We didn't mean to make you cry," Dean said, standing up as well. "Oh, no, Honey, these are happy tears. I'm so happy for you guys," your mom said, curling her arms around Dean.
"Now you better get up, punkhead," your mom said to you. She swiftly put you in her arms. "You're going to be a great mommy, and Dean is going to be a great daddy," she whispered in your ear. You nodded into her shoulder. You felt tears come to your eyes. "I love you, Y/N," your mother said, pulling away. "And I love you, you little peanut," your mother said, placing a small hand on your belly. "Grow and grow, little one," she said softly. You felt the tears fall over your cheeks. "Mom, you're making me cry," you laugh and wipe your face.
With many more congratulations, many more tears, and many more hugs later, the group of people left. And Sam knew he was going to be an uncle, your mom knew she was going to be a grandmother — your happy, growing family.
