CHAPTER 5: Huge Impacts
Delisa’s POV
I walked into the room, anxious. What if I had a nervous breakdown and couldn’t even finish the interview? What if I say the wrong things and I don’t get the job? What if?
I looked around, the room was bland, boring and dull but was filled with framed photos of famous people. But there was something about it that made it seem, somewhat immaculate. Nothing was out of place, not even a single paper.
There was a round, wooden desk placed in the centre of the room, along with a matching chair. How are those chairs even comfortable? Think Delisa, think.
You’re here for a job interview, not to observe chairs. I snapped out of my daydreaming once I heard the clearing of a masculine voice. He was quite short, his hair bald and dressed in a grey formal suit.
He coughed and straightened his blazer before saying, “Hi Delisa, how are you? I’m Jason. Have a seat,”
I sat down in the chair, it was surprisingly comfortable! I looked up and realised he was still waiting for my answer.
“I’m doing very fine, just a bit nervous,” that sounded formal... Right? Did I just say I was nervous? Damn, damn, damn!
Jason smiled and replied, “Oh don’t be nervous! I’m sure you’ve had many job interviews before, am I right?”
Okay, he was a nice guy... Wait, what did he ask again? Oh yeah, if I have done any interviews before. Does getting an interview to work at McDonald’s count? I also worked at Valley Girl (a fashion store in Australia), so, two?
“To be honest, I haven’t had that many jobs so far... I’ve probably had one or two interviews?” I said. McDonald’s didn’t sound very formal right now.
Jason said as he was scribbling everything I said down, “Alright, how about you tell me a bit about yourself? What are your passions? Your interests?”
He wanted ME to tell him about ME! What was I meant to tell him? Delisa think!
“Umm, well... I have a strong passion for music, it’s everything to me. Sometimes I feel like music the only thing that loves me and understands me. I love dancing, I enjoy public speaking and debating. So basically I like to give my opinion about things, err... I don't like watching people get hurt and I will defend people that can't defend themselves!” I blurted out.
Jason smiled again, he kind of looked like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, “You seem like a very interesting person, Delisa. Tell me, why do you want to work here?”
Why did I want to work here? Because I wanted a new life, and a new beginning. But also partly because Miranda and Cody urged me to do this interview. But obviously I couldn’t say that, because it would be rude.
So Delisa... Why would you want to work here? I looked around, on the walls there were, actors and hosts who looked confident and dramatic; something people saw myself as.
