The pain of the truth

As Corin walked out of the main hall his mind replayed the day that he awoke alone, finding a note placed on the table at the end of the bed from Alexia in which only a simple sentence was written on it. I can't do this anymore, this is goodbye. The walk back to the study seemed much longer this time even to corin who had traveled more than most would ever desire to. Lady Keira has told them both to leave for the simple fact he's never actually put any thought in how to actually address this subject not that he truly wanted too given the circumstances but deep down even he agreed that it needed to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Alexia walked just a short distanced behind corin staring at him with uncertainty being completely unsure of where to begin let alone how to approach him after so much has happened since they last spoke. She pulled out the necklace from earlier that he had thrown to her back at the council chambers, holding it with the upmost care while fighting back tears as it was still stained with blood, the very blood of the child she once cared for and helped raise. She remembered the day she gave it to young Caleb on his birthday having just finished carving it the night before. When she looked up again corin had already entered the study and was now staring out of the window close to the corner where he slept. Alexia walked up still standing a short distance from corin as she struggled to form words stuttering as she attempted to speak to him. So she began, that's what you you were gonna tell me? The one thing you couldn't tell me, until our marriage?
Corin let out a deep sigh as he still stared intensely out the window clutching his fists tightly.
Alexia feeling the anger radiating off him as if he was a fire giving off heat as they stood there in silence again but then corin spoke finally.
He cried when I told him you weren't coming home anymore. Do you have any idea how heart broken he was Alexia? He said as he clinched his fist so tight that his fingers started to leave indents in his palms.
Tears began to swell in alexia's eyes as she tried to find her words. Corin it's complicated to explain what happened between us, complicated to explain why I, she began to explain but corin cut her off viciously as he turned to face her.
You abandoned me? He yelled. Abandoned your son as you called him?!?!? What's so fucking complicated Alexia? You abandoned us when you promised you wouldn't, you promised to always be there for us but one day everything changed. A week of hell, a week of back and forth nonsense just to have you up and leave without even giving us a reason.
Alexia with tears running down her face attempted to get a word in. Corin please she started to say but at that moment she noticed his left iris had begun to turn black as night but his right remained normal.
I fought for a whole day and night corin shouted at her ferociously. I fought trying to protect MY people, MY family, MY SON!!!! Corin screamed at her with such anger in his voice that she herself had never before heard from him. But even with all my power he continued to yell at her; with all my combat abilities combined with the most talented alchemist and mages I couldn't get to him in time, it was at that moment as corin finished his sentence he punched the wall behind him caving it in completely while giving off a violent gust of heat that blew open all the windows as well as the study doors, sparks of flames flew from the shock wave of his punch scorching the pieces of parchment and the few scrolls left on the nearby table. I couldn't even stomach seeing his body, Damien had to go in, The elders had taken him in order to protect him so I could focus on fighting, they gave their lives fighting to save him alexia. They died trying to keep him safe when all he wanted was US protecting him! But while they fought doing all they could as they continued to hold up for us to get to them as the the fighting continued into the night we arrived to late. Damien pulled that necklace from his hands alexia THE VERY FUCKING NECKLACE YOU MADE HIM FOR HIS BIRTHDAY ALEXIA!!!! HE DIED HOLDING ON TO IT!!!!!!!! WANTING THE WOMAN HE CALLED MOTHER TO PROTECT HIM!!!!!! It was at that moment that corin's left iris had turned completely black, dark as the night itself, shaking as he yelled at her with every fiber of his being. Without breaking eye contact with alexia he stepped closer to her as he spoke again, I bet you don't even remember what today is do you? He asked her in the same vicious hate filled tone. Alexia stared back into his eyes as she cried uncontrollably. Today is the anniversary of the day we chose for our wedding, the day we were to become a family but I'm guessing you forgot given your lifestyle change he screamed at her pointing past her indicating her position as a royal bodyguard. Just then Lady Keira, the other Alchemist with King Liam and Lord Montress appeared at the entry way of the study, staring in amazement and terror as another sharp and powerful gust of wind and flames emitted from Corin as he continued to yell at alexia. Damien stood there with the other alchemist staring at their dear friend unsure of what to do to help but then subtly they all noticed that the temperature began to slowly rise as corin's yelling continued.
And today of all days you reappear in defense of one whom aided in the attack against my homeland. I don't even know if Andri was his killer corin said coldly maintaining eye contact with alexia. But I gladly killed him without a second thought or regret cause he was there Alexia! He helped aid in Calebs death along with so many other women and children. And I'll kill anyone else who was involved in the attack I don't care who I have to hunt down I will gladly kill them! Just then a soft gust of wind blew through the study as corin is hugged by young woman from behind firmly, She spoke softly.
It's ok big brother she said, please calm down your breaking aunt Keira's home. I'm sad that Caleb is gone too but please big brother he wouldn't want you to be like this so full of anger. Corin blinked as if he had just woken up from a deep slumber slowly realizing where he was again. He took a deep breath closing his eyes, the temperature within the room began to decrease to a more suitable level. When he opened his eyes again his left iris was back to normal. Corin turned around looking down at Jinx's face, her long black and red hair partially covering her face, her eyes full of worry and concern for Corin. With tears welling in his eyes Corin fell to his knees and laid his head on her stomach hugging her tightly with tears going down his cheeks burying his face into her stomach as he spoke finally.
I'm so sorry little sister, I didn't mean to get so angry again.....I'm sorry if I scared you............I didn't mean to I'm sorry I'm sor..he began to say again as he passed out from exhaustion leaning into the young woman as she dropped to her knees catching him as he fell into her arms. She held him gently in her arms.
It's ok big brother I'm here now please rest everything is going to be ok the young woman said as she held him close kissing his head as Lady Keira and Damien walk up to them both.
Lady Keira looked at corin and the young lady as she spoke. Damien, you and Lady Xina take Corin to bed please and do stand guard over Lord Corin.
Lady Xina dropped down from the ceiling next to Damien, Yes My Lady they both replied in unison.
Damien picked up Corin then carried him out with Xina walking close behind them. The young lady stood up and trailed slightly behind xina giving alexia a menacing glare as they exited the study.
Lady Keira then turned to everyone else as she spoke again. Alchemist would you all please begin with fixing the wall that Corin destroyed and then please patrol the grounds in Xina's place. Without a spoken word the Alchemist bowed then hurried past Lady Keria to fix the wall. That young lady would be Jinx stated Lady Keria. She is as of now the closest thing to family Corin has left in this world. She is a pure blood demon without any memory of her past, Corin found her being chased by would be demon hunters on the border of his lands and saved her. He brought her to me to watch over her while she healed. Lady Keira then began to slowly walk up to everyone else but stopped directly in front of alexia as she explained more. He visited as much as he could sometimes alone other times with his fellows that are here with him today, and he even brought his late son here to visit her as well she stated as she glared directly at alexia, and yes she was vastly fond of her nephew.
King Liam looked on as Damien a mere human whom has no ties to anyone in the room save corin followed Lady Keira's orders as they were corins, he looked on as the other alchemist repaired all the damage done then without a second thought nodded to each other as they turned away from each other as if they had done all this once before. I find it hard to believe that these alchemist are naturally this familiar and accustomed to taking orders from another? King Liam said subtlety while Lady Keria walked up to him. No darling this isn't the first time they have received orders from me let alone Lady Xina for that matter given the close relationship I maintained since the last time we three stood in the same room replied Lady Keria. But I think it's best we all turn in for the night given the circumstances. We can finish discussing everything after sunrise but till then you all are welcome to stay the night here.
Exactly what I was thinking my lady and you have my thanks said King Liam as he bowed to her then turned around to leave the study.
I don't know what happened here but should we leave him with only two guards let alone roam free with that kind of power as emotionally unstable as he is at this time? Lord Montress said sternly staring at Lady Keria intently.
Darling unlike certain demons, humans, and hybrids alike, Corin possesses a strong moral code and loyalty to those he truly cares for and respects. So I don't see what the issue is you have with him. Not to mention Lady Xina personally over saw the training of all the human alchemist to include the young man with her as we speak lady Keria said with a trace of mockery in her voice staring at Montress as she spoke, she then turned and began to calmly walk away as she said. Besides darling, if you or anyone for that matter remotely believe that they are the only two watching over Lord Corin let alone watching my estate at all times than you are more foolish than I originally believed you were.
