Merlin’s POV
“What?” asked Balinor backing away from me looking confused.
I look at him and smile. I explain everything to him in the best way I can. My memories seem to all be fine now and I remember everything as clearly as it happened like it was yesterday.
“You’re my son?” he asked.
“I am father,” I smile.
This time he wraps his arms around me instead and we share a comforting hug in front of Paul and Helen. We pull apart in the end looking as happy as each other.
“But in normal time...I’m dead?” he asks me.
“Yes you are,” I say sadly.
Paul looks at me worried. “Merlin you can’t be considering that right? You have to make sure time goes back to the way it is even if you’re father is not alive there,” says Paul.
“I know...just I don’t know Paul. He is my father and I could be with him, live with him,” I said quietly
“But that isn’t your destiny Merlin you are Emry’s and Arthur Penedragon needs you,” said Paul.
Arthur...what do I do? Do I give up everything I worked for to be with my father and to live my life with him with the man I never got to know nor do I go save Arthur, save Camelot? Save Arthur my best friend and my destiny. My father or Arthur...
Arthur’s POV
A couple of guards came to the cell I was in and dragged me from it. I had to allow them to drag me all the way to the throne room. They pushed open the doors and shoved me in first following close behind me.
I saw my father not looking very ill at all, maybe even himself but he had two guards holding him firmly in front of Morgana, Morgause and Mordred. Morgana had the crown on her head. This had happened a few times before but we had stopped her and this is why she had came to this because she found no other to be able to get the crown on her head and keep it there and to stay in the castle.
I have to admit it’s a good plan but I couldn’t hate her more than I do now. The guards dragged me down the throne room and forced me down beside my dad. He looked at me and I looked back sharing that father and son glance, both saying sorry to each other to how this had happened.
“It’s great to see Father and Son together even if it’s going to be over very shortly. I can’t just kill you Uther not any more I wish for you to suffer and to do that I’m gonna kill Arthur in front of you,” she hissed.
I knew she had some crazy plan, I mean there had to be or we both would have been dead already. I guess I’m gonna die first then. I’m glad I will though, I mean at least I won’t have to fight to stop them killing my father because I would already be dead so I wouldn’t be able to even try. It’s a horrible thing to say but we are all gonna die. We have no hope, not any more.
“Any last words Arthur before you die?” asked Morgana evilly.
“Yeah, you will kill us and have the throne but no one will really accept you as Queen you will just cause destruction like you have already and you’re lies and betrayal will live on forever. You say we never accepted magic but you have turned into something which we all feared which is why magic is banned. I could have understood Morgana if you just gave me a chance too.”
“Thank you for those words but you would have never understood and now it’s time for you to die!” she screamed.
A loud cry of pain was heard nearby and then the throne room doors bashed open to reveal someone I thought I would never ever see ever again. There stood Merlin with tears dripping down his face but he also looked angry and happy as he spotted me.
“Arthur isn’t going to die when I’m still living, while I’m still here to stop you Morgana. Yes you where right in sending me away through the time line but you had no idea it land me four years on did you? Blocking my memories was a good idea too but you had no idea I would get them back. Why don’t you just face it’s over Morgana.”
“I should have just killed you when I had the chance you annoying frustrating bloody idiot. You’re just a bloody servant!” she screamed.
“I may be a servant Morgana but I will always protect Arthur till the end. I give everything up for him,” said Merlin.
“How are you actually going to stop me,” she sneered.
“Just watch me.”
A few hours before
Merlin’s POV
I sat at the top of this waterfall with my father next to me. “You know you have to go and save Camelot you have to change time back,” he whispered to me.
“I don’t have to. I can stay here with you,” I whisper back.
“No, Merlin you can’t do that just for me. I died Merlin and you have to face that. Seeing me now and for the past couple of weeks was a gift to see me again but it can’t last forever and you’re destiny is way more important.”
“I don’t want to lose you again,” I say.
“You won’t. I’ll always be in your heart.”
“No I can’t just accept that. I’m not going any further I’m going back to the cave with you. I’m going to be with you,” I said.
“No, Merlin. I’m sorry for what I’m about to do but its the only way for you to go,” he said as he got to his feet.
“What are you going to do?” I ask him worried as I shot to my feet. He brought me into a tight squeeze and kissed me on the cheek.
“Keep your mother and yourself safe,” he whispered into my ear as he pulled away from me. Before I could stop him convince him to stay with me like I wish to stay with him he jumped off the cliff and to the deep rocks below.
I see him smack against the rocks below knowing the impact would have killed him instantly and tears came to my face as quickly as they had done when he had died in my arms. He had just killed himself for me, my destiny, Arthur and Camelot.
