Helen’s POV

Someone knocked on my door. “Come in,” I called. I watched as Arthur’s manservant Mordred came into the room.

“I have come to fetch you my lady,” said Mordred.

Thank you,” I said to him as we left the chamber and he took me down to the courtyard to find two horses ready and Arthur already sat on one of them.

“Good morning my lady,” said Arthur.

“Good morning,” I said to him as Mordred helped me up onto the horse. It doesn’t help I have to wear dresses all the time. Sometimes it would be good to wear a pair of trousers when you go riding. I set off before Arthur across the courtyard and he chased behind me.

“Helen slow down,” said Arthur behind me. Once we were in the forest I did slow down and Arthur rode beside me.

“Sorry I just wanted to get out of there,” I explained to him.

“I know the feeling,” smiled Arthur at me.

“I don’t get to horse ride often,” I said to him.

“I’m sorry to hear that. Maybe I can take you more often then you go,” said Arthur grinning.

“That would be nice..,” I paused not sure what to say. There isn’t much we can talk about or less he can somehow explain to me how I keep worrying about someone called Merlin when I don’t even know him.

“You are alright Helen right?” asked Arthur.

“O f course I am. My brother came to me last night after you left. He seems to like your sister Morgana,” I said to him.

“Oh really? I’m not sure that will be a great idea,” said Arthur.

“Me either. As much as I want my brother to be happy he isn’t ready to be committed to anyone, he hardly looks after to himself. He can’t be the one to reunite our lands even if your sister is ready,” I explained to him.

“She isn’t ready either. I’m not sure she ever will be as harsh as that sounds I think it to be the truth and I’m not the only one to think that,” he said. I nodded my head.

“I think you can just tell by how she acts and speaks. Something about her tells me to avoid her at all costs but I don’t know why,” I said to him sadly.

“Hey don’t worry I think I know what you mean...I wish you would get out my head...did I just say that out loud?” he asked me.

“Yeah you did...Who do you want to get out your head?” I asked him.

“No one...It’s not important,” he said to me.

“Oh if you’re sure I am here if you need to tell someone,” I smiled to him and he nodded. We continued through the trees in silence after that for a while until something rustled in the trees Arthur pulled out his sword just encase.

“It’s just a rabbit calm down,” I said to him. He looked at me and agreed before putting his sword back in his belt.

Merlin’s POV

I tossed and turned in the blankets on the floor of the cave until a memory took over. I was use to this happening by now or that was what you would think anyway but I still find it strange.

Memory

“Thank you Merlin,” said Gaius.

I nodded to him before I went over to the table and picked up a little wooden box.

“What are you doing?” Gaius asked me.

“Uther is ill with the same thing Morgana had. Edwin said he used these to cure Morgana maybe we can too,” I said opening the box with Gaius coming over to me.

“Alvia beetles,” said Gaius.

“Their magical,” I added.

“Yes. They are enchanted to go into the brain, to feed on it till they devour there very soul we must go to them.”

I woke slowly this time finding myself alone in the cave. Jake must have gone out for some reason, maybe we are low on supplies and since the last time I tried to help didn’t go so well he decided to go on his own.
