Hundreds of varicoloured dresses and boots covered the Ballroom floor. Music permeated the room without effort, accompanied by the crowd's laughter and constant chatter. Chandeliers hung from the ceilings, their twelve golden branches stretched out from the central base, towards the dancing flames in the small candle slots. Somewhere in the room, a violin was keeping the crowd captivated. Other royal figures sauntered about, representing their respective kingdoms though the real star of tonight's event wasn't the tables laden with delicacies that lined the walls.
There was a whole roasted chicken still turning on spits. Huge platters of fowl stuffed with savoury fruit and nuts Bread drizzled in sauces or begging to be dipped in spicy blends. Countless cheeses, vegetables, sweets, waterfalls of wine, and streams of spirits that flicker with flames.
Behind the curtains, away from the intrusive crowd, Midoriya, having returned to his disguise, was finding it hard to stay still. Was it just him or was the small space becoming more sultrier? Maybe the dramatic change of temperature was due to the arrival of Todoroki.
The boy's green eyes once more scanned the mess of colourful dress and suits, hoping to spot any civilian from the Yuuei Kingdom. He was too engrossed in his search; he didn't notice the other Prince creeping up behind him.
"Looking for anyone in particular?" Todoroki's voice brought Midoriya's quest to a standstill as the boy turned to greet the other.
"I was hoping to catch a glimpse of my mother or even All Might", Midoriya replied meekly. His answer received a nod.
"Well, after the opening ceremony, how about we go and search for them? I do admit; I am quite keen to meet your mother after hearing your wonderful tales about her." Todoroki stated, giving the smaller Prince a modest smile.
And before Midoriya could reply, the sound of clapping and a quick announcement that Midoriya had somehow missed hearing. The Yuueian Prince inhaled deeply. He looked up expectedly at the other.
Clearing his throat, Todoroki held his arm out.
"Shall we?"
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The opening celebration began better than Midoriya had envisioned. Well, excluding the dance with Todoroki that went horribly astray.
Nerves got the best of him, and in the end, Midoriya was positive he had spent most of the dance, trampling on Todoroki's feet instead of moving in sync. Luckily, Todoroki managed to save the day by impressing the guests with a few improvised moves such a twirl in the air and a quick peck to the lips.
Sly Princeling.
The Yuuei Prince could only hope that the Crown Prince could still feel anything or even have the strength to walkabout. No sooner had the waltzing melody that the pair had been swirling to seconds ago, the couple instantly got mobbed by enthusiastic ladies and gentleman, sending in their congratulations. At some point, Midoirya had gotten a bit too involved with the flowing excitement of the crowd and ended up bidding a 'See you later' to his Crown Prince.
